1: Aiden Jones back makes a big difference defensively. I thought he stood out tonight along with Agee again and Dietz was getting after it in the run game up front. The 2 guys in the middle (AJ and Sullivan) make it difficult to run against for most teams. 

2. We did just enough offensively. We still struggle to consistently throw the ball, but Holtz did have a couple nice balls tonight. We’re not going to be good enough on this side of the ball to put up a lot of points, so we’re going to have to win these types of games. Moving forward, Agee just has to get the ball more, he’s the best player with the ball in his hands on the team. 

 

Aiden getting back on the field was my personal highlight, but the Williams ceremony was a total goose bump moment. It puts a football game in perspective.

As far as your 2nd bullet point, it had been discussed that both Agee and Holtz would play QB at some point. I don't know the plan moving forward, but I did like Eddie's wrinkle where he played both of them in the 4th, with Holtz still in the game when Agee moved to QB.

Special teams was much improved for sure. The passing game, or lack there of, is going to be an issue against the better teams we play, especially those that can stop the run. We’ve got matchups we should be able to take advantage of in the passing game; Agee and Zion, the TE’s, Sullivan and Wilson, we just cant seem to get the ball to them consistently when they are open. 

Don't forget Benke did not play tonight. They have options for sure.

Holtz has some awesome throws each game and our offense is improving, but we still have work to do on that front. We bent a bit on defense but didnt break, unlike last week. Also had some spectacular defensive plays. Were very stout and had better coverage on the deep balls than our earlier games.

All in all, I'm pleased with our performance. Huge game next week.

I’m pretty sure the difference was Aiden Jones. When you get a 6’3 probably 235-240lb linebacker back who’s, at minimum, a high end FCS player, it’s a big deal. He covers up a lot. 

I would echo the comments on the secondary, much improved from last year. Agee is such a ballhawk back there. He made a couple plays on the sideline that were very very nice, including his pick.

Best game I have seen our front play this year. Dixie is much bigger upfront than I thought. 
 Also, remember Aiden is only a Junior. The kid has crazy upside!

Sophomore QB Cam Pitzer had a really nice passing game from what I understand, including a 59 yard touchdown pass to Owen Leen - one of 4 TD passes in the game. Leen scored the remaining touchdown on the ground.
