Convince me this isn't the Worst the 9th Region has been overall in a long time!!

Featured Replies

Okay 9th Region Fans convince me I am wrong about how bad overall the 9th region is this year!!!

My take:

CovCath: Very average team right now (has potential to improve due to football), lost to St. Henry and Lafayette already, looked horrible against NCC, best game might be the 2 point loss to Cin. St. X. And they might be the creme of region.

Holmes: Lost to Simon Kenton (8th region), recent games are in the 30-50 point range which isn't their game, just haven't beem all that impressive so far but at 7-2 they have to be one of the best teams in the 9th.

Boone Co: Hey at least they win (7-0) so maybe that will carry over to the tougher part of the schedule. I ain't buying yet but maybe they save the year for the 9th?

St. Henry: Had some nice wins at 5-4 but I think they have taken full advantage of the October 15 non-football start and the other teams will catch up to them.

Highlands: Not this year see the lopsided loss to Brossart.

Holy Cross: Maybe a fair All-A team but thats about it.

NewCath: Same thing as Holy Cross.

Dixie: Not impressive thus far.

Conner: Same

Newport: Same

Overall the 9th region teams are 55-63 on the year.

If this isn't the worse overall 9th region performance in a long time tell me why it isn't!!!

Guard Play - there just doesn't seem to be that "court general" presense to any team in the ninth. Sorrell is the best guard in the ninth, I've made my mind up on that.

I really think that if the ninth combined the best players from each team that they would still have a hard time competing against the better teams in the state. I just haven't seen any one in the ninth handle pressure and take care of the ball when their team needs them to.

Anybody could win the ninth, and I mean anybody.

OK, I don't mean to be rude, but this post is wrong on so many levels. Although I will agree on the fact that up to this point I have not seen a court general.....

1. Sorrell is not the best guard, he barely cracks the top 10- Jacobs, Jefferson, Hill, Bovard, Bray, Lenhof, Ryan, Henderson, Simpson to name a few.

2. Holmes and CovCath have competed with and will compete with state powers with depleted lineups. Holmes is missing their court general and CCH is missing their starting center and just getting back from football.

3. Holmes or CovCath will win the region. CovCath takes a while to get playing well every year, and to see Holmes holding teams in the 40's and 50's can only be a good thing. Offense will come for both of them. I'm sure some Holy Cross fans will say that this is not true, but HC can't compete with Holmes' starting five, and they can't go nearly as deep as CovCath.

I'm not saying that this is a great 9th region, but you look at the success that these past few classes (07,08, 09) have had in a AAU and there are some players in NKY. When it is all said and done, the 9th region will be in the top half of the regions in the state like it always is.

Oh my...

Jacobs, Jefferson, Hill & Bovard. Those would be the top 4 guards in region 9 correct? I'm not very familiar with the 9th region but from what I have read on here it seems that those 4 names are mentioned most.

I'll second my comment, your not going to a better guard in the ninth region. Sorrell is the best. I admit, I haven't given CovCath or Holmes thier due time yet. But could I see NCC, Boone, Holy Cross, or St. Henry winning the ninth region? I would say yes. It doesn't matter about how your playing in this region, its going to be about who gets hot at the right time.

Sorrell is better than Ryan, Simpson, Lenhof, Bovard, and Bray. No doubt in my mind!!!:scared:

Any how, we have still not come to a conclusion as to why the ninth region is so down this year.

  You've got to be kidding me.

BTW, I believe Chris Bray and his Rebels are sitting at 7-0 right now so I have to take him over Sorrell any day.

Simpson, Bovard, and Lenhof are all explosive athletic players. To say Sorrell is better than them is an overstatement.

Boone lost to Russell and there are defintely a lot of questions about Boone. I'll be suprised if Simpson scored 13 against Brossart(if he did they came off of free throws). Bovard and Lenhof aren't explosive. Please tell me when they will lead their teams to victory against decent competition. Sorrell is as explosive as they get. Give him an inch and he will explode.

They are pretty raw and untested. ;)

Sorrell isn't even in the top 5 of players in the region, let alone the best.

Holmes alone has 3 players better than him. (Jefferson, Hill, Henderson)

And Lenhof is St Henry's best player...how does he not lead them against stiff competition?

When Sorrell can put on big performances against GOOD teams like Holmes and Covcath, then he can be considered one of the best in the region. Until then, I'd get some stats together to back your statement up.

What is Holy Cross record?? Didn't they lose to Lenhof and St Henry? :sssh:

I'm talking guards. Not players. I think you will see him in the near future and he will not leave you unsatisfied. Simpson, Ryan, and Lenhof have left me wishing for more. If I were talking players I would talk about Keirnan and Rice.
