Open Job: Russell County

Recommended Posts

Interesting. He's from Laurel County, I believe. Coached with Brad Sizemore at North Laurel for many years. Wonder if he ends up at Bell County where Sizemore is an assistant?

Second, Russell County is a tough job. Very winnable district, despite a lack of recent success. Russell is much bigger than Metcalfe, Cumberland, and Clinton Counties. However, the region is very tough. All of the Bowling Green schools are more successful, and even the likes of Logan, Franklin-Simpson, Glasgow, Barren, etc. have been at least as good if not better than Russell County in recent years.

Yes Russell normally has a very good shot to get out of the district along with Clinton County. Though recently Metcalfe has improved a lot and have made region a couple times. Its a tough place to contend in the postseason for sure.

Another name in this one that could be a candidate is assistant coach Greg Lundy. He has been assistant two different times at Russell as well as an assistant at Adair County for 4-5 years. Also coached on and off in travel ball, and is known for his player development especially of bigs. Is the father of former Adair and Russell County standout Kel Stotts.

He’s a great guy. Be nice to see him as a head coach.
