Reds at Dodgers (4/26 - 4/28)

Recommended Posts

The Reds come into this series on a 7 game losing streak and going up against the team with the best record in baseball. The Reds won't face Bauer in this series. When you are coming off having only 8 hits and 2 runs in your last two games the Dodgers pitching staff is not something you want to face, but we shall see. Go Reds!!

  • theguru changed the title to Reds at Dodgers (4/26 - 4/28)

I like the way Bell managed this game tonight. Mahle pitched well but was at 97 pitches after 5 innings. Bell went straight to Sims in the 6th and then brought in Garrett to relieve him in a high leverage situation with 2 outs in the 7th,  the Reds leading 3-1. Garrett again struggled with location and allowed a 2 run game tying HR to Seager. BUT, this happened in the 7th. Bell had a rested Antone lined up to either close the game out or hold the line till the Reds got a lead. It worked. Antone on 5 days rest was able to go the final 3 innings and hold the Dodgers scoreless which got him and the Reds the win.

The bad news is Antone is probably done for the rest of the series but the Reds had to get that win tonight.

Reds bullpen does the job tonight holding the Dodgers scoreless after scoring 3 in the top of the 7th to take the lead. The Reds will go for the series sweep tomorrow in an afternoon (4:10ET) start who would've thunk it, lol

Over the last three innings - Fulmer, Hembree and Doolittle for the save.

Guaranteed at least 2 of 3 from the Dodgers. Proof why you can't get too bent out of shape about what happens on a game by game basis in baseball. Yet fans have a fit on an almost at bat by at bat basis. Baseball is a marathon. You have to look for trends over time and not blow it up because a hitter goes 0-4 or a pitcher has a bad outing.

Reds fall 8-0 as Sal Romano allows 6 runs in the bottom of the 8th in the loss. The Reds have tomorrow off as they come home to take on the Cubs in a three game series this weekend.

3 day weekend series against the Cubbies and the weather looks like it's going to be good.  Depressing haha!
