1Forrest1
Curious on why NCC is trying to find a new ball field. Route 8 field flood that much? They decided to go another direction then Southgate community center. So where will the new field be?
brooksville
They decided against Southgate because the city council was divided on the issue. http://www.fortthomasmatters.com/2021/02/newport-central-catholic-rescinds.html Here is the original proposal. http://www.fortthomasmatters.com/2020/11/southgate-puts-newport-central-catholic.html

I don't know about flooding, but that field has not been in great condition for more than a few years.
Jack of all Trades
Surprised Southgate did not go for this. If Jeff Martin was the leader of this project you can be sure it would have been done correctly and completely. He also had staff members with the same reputation. Maybe he can get Reds involved in fixing up the current home field and we in NKY with have another ball diamond gem.
1Forrest1
I drove past that field on route 8 and thought it would be an amazing complex to put a football and baseball field in.

I think the drive on Route 8 was too far from NCC and they wanted something closer.

The field hasn’t been in great shape because it wasn’t taken care of correctly. Anyone who knows ball fields knows a little money and a lot of hard work makes for a great ball field. k'd looking
All the above comments are true. No argument there. Not sure if everyone who posted was a where, that the field on route 8 was built on a land fill. They have always seemed to have trouble with the infield "sinking" in spots. They have trucked in a lot of dirt over the years to try and correct the problem. Not sure what else they could do. It is a nice complex,in theory, if the ground would co-operate .....lol!!! Anyway, just wanted to "fyi" for people.
