When I look back at Jonathan's career in High School, I think this game will be in the "top 3", along with the Boyd County game his freshman year when he shot a 3 at the buzzer, ball bouncing on rim, he fell to the floor slapping his fist because he thought he missed it, then it somehow rolled through the

net, then the game winner he hit in the final minute against Ashland I think it was his Freshman year, and then this one, this one was probally more fun because there were so many other big plays in it by the kids on both sides, Robinson's spin move in the paint, Gill's put backs, Ferguson's fadeaways in the paint, 4 big bombs by Ethan Faulkner, and 2 big bombs from Maynard, from a 16 point lead, to a 9 point deficit, and then finally down to the last shot, this game will definitely go down as one of the "all time classics", it would have been a bargain at ten times the price of admission

High School goes by so fast

Great game to watch I am glad I drove to Sandy Hook to watch this game it was worth the price of admisson. Vanhoose played a great game and hit some tough shots with Ethan Faulkner all over him. Ferguson played a great game and seems to be getting his stroke back. Ethan hit some big shots. Gil and Robinson were the difference in the game that got a ton of offensive rebounds and putbacks. Maynard for Elliott has played good all year he isnt going to get alot of looks but when he does he has to knock them down.

This is going to sound strange when you look at Jonathan's stat line, but I really thought Ethan did a great job on defense and made Jonathan work for every shot he got, he may be a little tired tonight, West Carter should send Ethan a thank you note:thumb:

I would have love to have seen the game and been in the stands with the Redbone Man. How was it in the stands, intense?

Ethan Faulkner can flat out play defense.

Is Evan 100%????

If this kid from Russell droped a bunch on Ethan, thats saying something.!!!!!!

When and where is the rematch???

Rematch is at Russell in late Febuary, seems like the 28th. Evan is 100% but still trying to shake some rust off.

IMO! Elliott's size evidently doesn't really matter. Last year they were in the final's of the region!! Morgan Co. had plenty of size, including one of the best (6ft 6") post players in the region and never made it out of district's!! Ferguson is kind of small in the post at 6-1 or 6-2 but somehow he find's way's to make up that 3or4 inch difference. In the game's ive watched this year he does a good job in the 2 or 3 position also. Very versatile player!!!

He also had Weddington to help back him up last season. That is the key difference this season.

It's interesting that the difference in scoring between the two leading scorers for each school was also the margin of this game:

VanHoose 35 + Robinson 15 = 50

Ferguson 27 + Ethan Faulkner 20 = 47

Difference = +3 Russell

The supporting five from each school tied at 24 points.

I have no idea what this indicates, if anything... just an observation.

Not dissing you or nothing F.B. but it doesn't indicate anything because Ferg only had 25 and Hoose had 36.

Not sure what you mean by difference this year because Russell beat us by 5 in reg. seas. last year, and by 4 in the region, and this year they only beat us 3. Also we dropped an start of the season game to a very weak bath co. This year we dropped a starter game to a pretty decent raceland team and beat a decent East Carter. Shoot!! I'm tickled pink right now!! Key word's in that sentence being "RIGHT NOW".

Last (for the night) but not least Elliott has two 6-3 guy's coming off the bench right now who are doing great and will only get better, and a 6-5 eighth grader who has looked good when he gets in and by this im saying Elliott will miss Weddington but as the season goes on these guy's will make up alot of the difference, and for some reason this year we are starting to use the bench. Hat's off to the coach's

The key is that they're off to a 1-2 start against 16th region competition - with one of those losses being at home. I'm an Elliott fan, not trying to go against you - just think they really need some size. Also think they need a bench, but there's about as much chance of a pink camel parachuting into the next game as what there is that Mays will dedicate himself to developing a bench.

I thought Mays used his bench much more than I expected Wednesday night, and the big 8th grader had a couple of big baskets in the post, he is going to keep getting better

He is developing a bench. He played 9 players in this game. By late Dec. Elliott Co. will have a solid 8 man rotation. 1-2 I agree is not very good but Evan Faulkner is going to get taken off and start putting up numbers for this team. You have to think he has only played 3 games since May. Jon Morgan is beginning to learn what his role is on this team and is going to be a major factor in the rotation. This is Keith Centers first year of playing Varisty and once he gets some experience he will put up solid numbers. Elliott Co. has some size but all their size has no experience. They just need to get some games under their belt and they will be fine. Championships are won in March not December!

Sorry, I was just going with the last 80 years of not having a bench.

I know you are an Elliott fan and i'm not tying to go against you but the first three last year were raceland, owsley(weaker than branchwater) bath(even weaker last year) and this year raceland, East, and Russell imo that's quite a bit tougher, and Mayse has been trying out the bench a little. Come to the game tomorrow and ill save you a seat if you promise not to get to loud!!!!!!!!
