Put me in the seeding camp. Don’t want two best teams potentially playing first round or 2nd round because of draw.

I looked and post 1970 I see Edmondson County in '76 and Paintsville in '96. It has been 24 years since a small school actually won. Kentucky doesn't need the rpi, we need classes to be fair. It takes 5-7 good players, but picking 5-7 boys out of a pool of 250 is not the same as picking 5-7 out of a pool of 1500-2000.

 

Classes are not a good idea for Kentucky. I was in Ohio before moving to Kentucky in 2005. Ohio has 4 classes with around 800 high schools who compete in boys' basketball. I don't know the exact total, but Kentucky has around 275 high schools who compete in boys' basketball. Maybe two classes, but I believe the All "A" tournament appeases the small schools in the Commonwealth.

My initial thought is no seeding, but I might be in favor of a situation where positions 1, 2, 3, and 4 are seeded and the remainder of the bracket is a draw. There are, however, logistical complications involved in seeding after all regional tournaments are complete that don't have to be considered with the current 16-team draw.
