I don’t think there is a vast conspiracy against Conley to deny him the title. There just happen to be some very talented seniors , all deserving of All State recognition, in McKnight, Powell, Vail and Morrison.

 

I will say that if I ever decide to run for public office, I’m going to reach out to you, Cardsrule1972, to run my campaign!

 

Don't think there is a conspiracy at all. Just think that it shouldn't be given to a senior if it's not warranted. By the end of the year we will compare stats, degree of competition, and results of games. When we do that I think he will be right there. If you go by the first third of season he has equalled or has done better than all favorites. Please show me where I am incorrect.

 

Spencer County plays Collins next week so there will be a good litmus test.

I agree Conley will have as good of if not better numbers than McKnight but to say schedules are pretty even as well Is not really close. So far they both play a lot of the same teams in regular season. However I think most people on BGP that follow high school basketball closely would say that Collins schedule is a good bit tougher than Spencer’s. Both of the tournaments that Collins played in over the holidays was considerably stronger that Spencer’s were. There was even some talk on here last week or so about Collins possibly having the toughest two weeks of any team in the state.

 

If you don't base it on the names of the tournaments they have played and actual teams I would say the gap isn't as big as you say. Spencer County went to the mountains and beat Shelby Valley who is ranked second in their region. All three Oldham County schools in five days. Bowling Green and Warren Central in a two day period. I believe those are the top two teams in fourth region. The gap is not what you might think. Collins, Woodford County, St. X coming up. I will say the final part of the Spencer County schedule is a drop off. Time to get ready for post season but up to this point schedule strength isn't that far off.

Trinity was not one of those teams I listed as being ranked. These were also rankings when the games were played not preseason rankings plus by the end of the season Collins will play the same teams except for Warren Central and Bowling Green. But in place of those two Collins played Ballard, Male, and Madisonville-North Hopkins.

You're a year early, but keep beating that drum.

Will be a top candidate next year after the other 4 players graduate. No shame in the fact that this years 8th region has some top notch seniors and better players

IMO / POY will go down to team head to head of SO, NO, & Collins with 4 players (mostly McKnight, Powell, & Morrison) as the top three candidates. Not much separation from those 3-4 players. Powell being hurt currently could hurt his cause too.

There may be candidates from other 8th region teams as well

Where do I begin? LOL So you say he is not in the conversation? You say unless he has a monster game against Colliins and Spencer County wins then he's in the conversation. So he's one game away from being in the conversation with you? I see all your offensive stats ,where I might add Conley is the number two scorer in the region, but where are we going to talk about him being a lock down defender. I value a player that plays both sides of the ball and McKnight and Conley are probably the two best defenders in the region. You mention that McKnight's numbers would be better if it wasn't for Vail? You do realize Spencer County has probably the most balanced scoring starting five in the region. Besides Conley averaging double figures there are three other starters averaging 14.7, 12.3., 9.2. I'm guessing that probably takes away from Conley's averages also. I would say a whole lot of teams could say the same thing. Conley is shooting 47% from the field. Not too shabby. I'd be interested to know how many times you have seen Conley play in person? There is a thing called the eye test and Conley has been dominant against the very good teams.

All I can say is wow! First off I'm not Sam Conley's dad. I'm glad some people on here know that fact. That's hilarious that you made that assumption because I "talk up Spencer County". I would be proud to be his dad though. Great kid! I watch a lot of AAU and high school basketball and I have watched Conley in those arena's and he is as good as any of the guys your talking up. Are you the father of the Powell kid for talking him up? That is hilarious. We can differ in opinions but claiming someone is a child's father because they defend how good they are is kind of lame. This season Conley has played equally as good and has been as dominant in big games. That's just a fact. Go ask Warren Central or Bowling Green how good he is. Anyway this conversation is in the wrong thread. Move it over to 8th region thread.
