Russell 52 Raceland 39

Final..... Opening game at Raceland in the EKC tourney.

Nice win on the road for Russell. The convincing win over a good Raceland team confirms the Lady Red Devils as the region favorites.

Tough loss for the Lady Rams for sure. This is still early in the season and this team is very good. Russell is always at or near the top in girls b.b. in the region.

Russell is obviously the regional faves, good win for them. Daily Independent has the rankings right on! :thumb:

After the scores of recent games, it would be hard not to annoint them the favorites, they're very talented and clearly are poised to capture the region crown this season. How are the girls ranked by the Independent anyway? Has the girls preview come out yet?

Russell is a tough team to play. They are well coached and very disciplined. Tough to win the battle of the boards against them. Hard loss for the Lady Rams but they will regroup. Great group of kids who work extremely hard. They will learn from this loss and improve as season moves forward.

I understand that Rose Hill is third in the region as voted by the region's coaches. Since the Courier-Journal coach's poll has Rose Hill third in the Commonwealth, it is reasonable to assume that Russell is #1 and Raceland #2 statewide. After all, we all know that the coaches did the voting and coaches vote strictly on the facts with no biases. :thumb:

And all the coach's around the state know everything there is to know about the 16th region and would never vote based solely on a team's performance the previous year...

With 2 of the Top 5 players in the state at Rose Hill and no one on Russell's, Rowan's, Raceland's, East's, West's, Ashland's, Boyd's, etc teams in the Top 25 players statewide, what are our area coaches thinking?? Rose Hill has to be the favorite...They return 3 starters, 2 of whom are Miss Basketball candidates, from last year's state runnerup...With that type of talent it doesn't matter if the rest of the supporting cast is middle school level...

#1 Rose Hill

#2-16 Everyone else just trying to be able to compete with #3 in the State

Boy, devil58, you are really in high gear with the fertilizer spreader.;) I think that we can assume that goherd96 is correct and that the statewide coaches were voting on last year's results. The region's coaches, learned individuals that they obviously are, know the facts. Russell clearly is #1 with Raceland a reasonable close #2. :thumb:

Rose Hill probably has the top three in the region and possibly the state. Unfortunately, the game is played with five on the floor at a time.

Raceland left their "A" game in the locker room against a very talented and well-coached Russell. Congrats Russell.

If Rose Hill is number 3 in the state, then Boyd Co must be in the top 15 to play the Lady Royals to within 3 at The Stew!

Lee Evans may want to watch film on some of these games!
