I don’t know about the rest of the teams but Ashland’s 15-0 record has come against pretty stiff competition. They have wins over Johnson Central (away), Clark County (away), Madison Central (away), Warren Central (AIT), Butler (AIT), Trinity at Transy, Woodford County, as well as 4 wins against top notch teams in West Virginia all on the road, one of which was rated 3rd in their state at the time they played. They’ve accomplished this by playing an all guard lineup with no player bigger than 6’2.

I take it Webster's loss is to an out of state team....correct?

Hush up now. The Tomcats are embracing the underdog role. Seriously though, if not for the out of state teams, which were all really solid teams Ashland would be getting more respect, from the RPI etc, but most here in Kentucky have no idea whether those teams are good or not. Hence the .500 rpi for said teams.

 

I think the #5 range that BGP has them at is suitable though. Eventually not having a big man will catch up with them, it has to.

I would like to point out some statistics on the Webster County team. Their record is 13 wins and 1 loss. They have not won against a team with a winning record. Their one loss has came at the hands of the only team that they have played with a winning record, Buford Ga. "an out of state team", but it's still a loss. The combined won/loss records as of Jan. 7th for all the teams that Webster County has played was 66-112. The combined records of Webster County's remaining games is 134 wins and 140 losses with five teams with winning records and 10 teams with losing records.

The West Virginia teams were all tough competition. I can’t remember the exact names but I listened to the games on the radio. I think their names were Spring Valley, Capitol High, who they have played twice, once at Capitol and once in a tournament at George Washington High. They also played George Washington in the championship game, a team rated 3rd in their classification in WVa.

 

And I agree with your last paragraph. Not having a big guy is possibly going’s to bite them when they go up against quality teams in the future that do, particularly if it’s a big that is not only tall but also muscular.

Tonights final Calloway County beat Webster County 58-54.

Yeah, I saw that on the schedule too and I'm all but positive that both teams will still be undefeated going into that game, but one of them will lose on January 21.

The Little Sisters of the... I mean Webster County lost their first game of the season tonight to a Kentucky team as Calloway County edged them 58-54.
