Louisville 58 Michigan 43

Featured Replies

I watched the first half. I am wondering if UL's defense will be as good when they play somewhere, or another team, where they get called for the fouls they commit.

The fouls were lopsided in favor of Michigan for much of the game. They closed the gap at the end by fouling, but Louisville still ended with more fouls. Not sure what you were watching.

Worst offensive game of the year so far for Louisville, but the defense was the best it’s been in years.

Louisville is a point guard away from being a real problem.

The Yum Center was electric tonight. Awesome atmosphere.

Do you think PG play will be an issue as the season unfolds? At the collegiate level, that is the one position you can't be glaringly deficient if you want your team to bring home the goods.

I watched UL foul consistently...hand checks...body fouls on shots...still only a fraction were called. Reminded me of Arkansas' Nolan Richardson teams. However I will say UL was the better team, and they are quite good.

They have three more than capable PG's in Perry, Kimble and Johnson. They are all good in their own ways, but I do think one or two of them are going to have to take a step forward if they want to make a run to the Final Four.

UL was called for many ticky tack hand checks and fouls, so again, we must have been watching a different game. I'm assuming you don't think Michigan was committing the same fouls?

I only watched the first half, but as I switched over to another game, I immediately saw a foul called that wouldn't have registered a second glance in the UL game. It was hard for me to ascertain that Michigan was playing any defense as they appeared to be slower than UL. However, maybe it is more of a comment on how different refereeing crews call games.

How many weeks all time has UL been ranked #1? Seems like a few years ago when they climbed there, it was for maybe the first time ever? Rankings mean little-to-nothing to me, but I've always found that fascinating.

This is the third time UofL has been ranked #1 in the AP. 2009 and 2013.

This is the fourth time UofL as been ranked #1 in the AP poll. The other three times were 1980, 1986, and 2013.

Not sure on the total duration, though.

I know they lost almost immediately after getting that No. 1 regular season ranking in 2013. Syracuse at home if memory serves. Pretty sure I was at that game.

I can't remember if they were #1 before or after that three game losing streak in January.

And if memory serves, in '09 they climbed to #1 after winning the Big East Tournament and then securing the overall #1 seed, so that was for only one week. I think.

Yeah. No. 1 after the conference tournament but never No. 1 during the season that year.

Wow...the shade.

I think Syracuse was the first game of that streak. Hit No. 1, then lose three.

I was sure they were doomed and it took at least a month before I thought they had a shot again.

Wow...the shade.

Eats 'em up...
