Lincoln County 59 Lafayette 37

Final from Lafayette.

That is good early win for Lincoln. Surratt is a very good in the post. Pats going to be a tough out in the 12th.

Mattingly with 6 3s. Coach Jackson classic, "Shooter in the Corner".

Seems like the game has went to who can hit more 3's. No real defense played anymore.

Lincoln up by nearly 30 late in the game before going to 3rd string.

Been that way along time.

You must not have watched the game. Lincoln Co has a suffocating defense. Big man protects the rim and they have 2-3 guards who fly all over the place getting steals and keeping pressure on the ball. D is what they hang their hat on.

I did not watch the game but with Mattingly hitting 6 3's he was open a lot. Overall most HS teams fly up and down the court in a chess match of lets see who can out shoot the other. Is it a lack of big post guys? Its a guards game anymore.

Since when is 59-37 a high scoring game? Looks like pretty good defense to me.

While Lincoln played well and it was a good win, it is yet to be seen how good (or not good) Lafayette is. I thought it was interesting several of their players that started in the JV game got significant minutes in the Varsity game. And their JV team got more or less manhandled by Lincoln (as did the Freshman) while essentially none of Lincoln's JV players got any minutes until mop up duty at the end of the 4th.

Great point Brddog everyone is still virtually untested it being really early in the season. Teams should hit their stride after 5 or 6 games and work some kinks out.

Did the Freshman Kid Tramane Alcorn get any playing time for Varsity? He's gonna be a star at Lincoln!

Yes. I believe he came in during the second quarter due to foul trouble and then near end of fourth. Lincoln should be good for the next few years.
