Yes, this is from the Coaches of the region ... well, at least the ones that participate.

2, 3 and 4 all being in the same district will make for some terrific rivalry games.

Got ya, thanks. I'm more familiar with Mya Meredith due to her proximity to NKY, and I know she has been very highly recruited, but I will keep an eye on Igo at GRC as well. Where is she going for college?

I like Igo from GRC but Mya is certainly right behind her and not by much! Both are outstanding players!

Geez... cmon coach. We’ve been over this. Just cause 11/12 coaches of the not so good teams in the region think Zoe is good doesn’t mean she’s actually a top player. Coaches are hesitant to vote for multiple girls on one team early on so they don’t.

 

In my opinion (and others who watch a decent amount of basketball in the 10th) Zoe is not better than the five 2nd team girls listed by coaches. Only because she has not shown anything against strong players and teams. How can that not make sense? Just cause she the “top player” and “highest scorer” for a small school does not make her better than players pricing themselves on the court across from top girls. GRCs second string could probably beat Paris and stop Strings.

 

And does Paris play Scott this year? Do they play Campbell? Do they play Brossart? How can you say the team or its “Star” player are any good without playing the best teams in the 10th. And to add to that Paris and Strings have been demolished by GRC (who is on their schedule) so that only proves the point.

 

Again before you get sour I’m not saying Strings is bad. Or maybe she’s really good. But how can we ever know if she doesn’t play on any summer teams and never plays against top teams/players (except GRC that shuts her down)?

Last year at this time I was strongly suggesting that Mya was not a top 5 player in the region until she had proven it on the court against the good teams in the 10th and the top players in the summer (See Zoe Strings).

 

Last year Meredith was impressive. Very impressive. I heard she played top EYBL team this summer and was further impressive. I’ve read of multiple high D1 offers. Igo was good last year but nothing great. Igo did not play summer supposedly? Igo is attending a below average mid major school. In my opinion the torch has been passed.

It's exciting that the season is here, we will see how things pan out. I don't know of a team that started 2 sophomore, 1 freshman and 2 eighth graders last year, and were able to compete, the Ladyhounds weren't too shabby for what they were working with. Bodies are developing and so is the knowledge of the game. 3 of the 5 starters for Paris play all summer long and have had multiple D1 interests, so who knows, at the end of the season, you and I will be having an intersting convo I am sure. As to that GRC second string jargon....have you ever seen the Ladyhounds play, and seen what GRC has left after their starting 4?? And yes I said 4. Ok message me later and we will discuss lol.

Speaking from some experience with both, Mya is the best talent in the region. Scott is probably on paper the most talented team in the region. But Igo has seen the top of the mountain in the region and made it to another level, as had GRC. And especially at this level, having that experience and confidence to lean on, matters a lot.

 

So, there are a lot of good talents in this region. There are a lot of quality programs. I mean Campbell, Mason, Brossart or maybe even a dark horse could have a shot to take the crown this year. But if we're talking "best player" between Meredith & Igo and "best team" between Scott & GRC... perhaps the conversation is more appropriately "most talent" & "most experience."

 

Scott has the necessary players and coaching staff to get the job done. But GRC, Coach Robbie Graham, and Kennedy Igo are at the top until someone knocks them off. And frankly, that's how Scott, and everyone else should view it.

Just for clarification, would you suggest that Paris could knock off GRC in the next year or two? I know you're referring to GRC's lack of depth after their "top 4," but if Paris has a high quality top 7-8 players, they should be able to overcome a team who only has 4 quality players.

 

Full disclosure, I love seeing small schools shocking the region. I hope Paris makes a ton of noise this year and Zoe pans out as the high level player that some people obviously think.

Yes...I'm on the record stating that Paris will knock off GRC nxt year...All of Paris' girls are born and raised in Paris...some schools add players here and there and that's the nature of the beast...we develope within and our seeds will sprout in due time.
