October 31, 20196 yr I saw it at the Kentucky Center in Louisville a few years ago. It's definitely an amazing show. Hoping to see it again when it comes through Cincinnati... I think in January?
October 31, 20196 yr I used to follow Broadway way more than I have lately as my partner who has passed always kept me in the loop. There’s a show that won 6 Tonys that I’ve yet to see called Dear Evan Hansen starring a guy named Ben Platt. A friend of mine just made me aware of him. He’s 26 years old as has won a Grammy, and a Tony and just recently released his first album which is pretty incredible as his voice is amazing and the songs on the record melt your heart away. Here’s one of the tunes from his album.
October 31, 20196 yr Author Choreography and costuming in this one were the best I’ve ever seen, bar none. The placement of the two percussionists off to the side of and above the orchestra pit was innovative and effective. The lead (Scar) and the lady who played Rafiki were extraordinary. My new top three, in no particular order. Les Mis, Wicked, and The Lion King.

October 31, 20196 yr If you haven't seen "Come From Away", please find a way to do so. Fantastic. Don’t get me wrong I’m a big fan of Broadway musicals, and this show had a very interestingly moving premise however the pace of it started off fast and remained in the fast lane all the way through. I tend to like shows that give me some time once in a while to breath and collect myself, but this one just didn’t. I’m a sucker for a tear jerking ballad here and there, and I sorta remember one later in the show, but in general you had to be on your toes the whole show to listen to the fast jumping all over the place dialogue. I’m sure that I’m in the minority on this show as it has been loved by many. I can’t complain too loudly as I attended free compliments of the generosity of a close friend, and she indeed walked out of the show raving about it, so I just agreed and reserved my true thoughts on it. I’m not saying that folks can’t enjoy it, but they better be ready to hit the ground running on this show.
