Ryle 13 Dixie Heights 8

Final per board.

Wasn’t pretty but a Win is a Win.

The SK / Ryle game will determine a lot next week:

District Champ for District 6.

The winner will face a bad Campbell team.

The loser will face an improved Dixie team.

Also home-field advantage for likely the first 3 rounds of the playoffs.

The 3rd round wouldn't apply with the RPI would it?

And is Dixie really that improved or did Ryle have a down night?

Dixie really didn’t look that bad to me. Ryle’s play calling was very bad I thought but I was impressed with the size Dixie has.

I thought the higher seed owned home field. If Ryle or SK would win out they would end up being a higher seed than Tate’s Creek or Oldham County.

First two rounds are district. Winner of second week district championship game then moves onto third round. In the 3rd round, Districts 1-4 and Districts 5-8 faceoff and seeds are applied via the RPI.

Districts 1-4: Four champs are ranked 1-4 based on RPI. #1 hosts #4 and #2 hosts #3.

Districts 5-8: Four champs are ranked 1-4 based on RPI. #1 hosts #4 and #2 hosts #3.

After this, there will be four teams remaining.

Round 4: Four remaining teams ranked 1-4 based on RPI. #4 travels to #1 and #3 travels to #2. Winners play in the state title game.

Clear as mud, right?

Thanks, I appreciate you explaining it for everyone.

Expounding further, here's a hypothetical run-down:

Let's say these are the Districts Champs in 6A with current RPI ranking:

District 1 – #6 McCracken County (6-2)

District 2 – #2 North Hardin (8-0)

District 3 – #3 DuPont Manual (7-1)

District 4 – #1 Male (8-0)

District 5 – #5 Trinity (Louisville) (6-2)

District 6 – #11 Ryle (5-4)

District 7 – #15 Tates Creek (4-4)

District 8 – #14 Oldham County (5-3)

Round 3 -

McCracken Co. at Male

DuPont Manual at North Hardin

Tates Creek at Trinity

Oldham Co. at Ryle

Winners: Male, N. Hardin, Trinity, Ryle

Round 4: Ryle at Male, Trinity at N. Hardin

Round 5: Male vs. N. Hardin

Hope that helps!

How did the JV game go today?

Refs were there. Dixie did not show up.

Refs were there. Dixie did not show up.

Literally or figuratively?

Literally.

Why didn’t they show up? If the refs were there, it means they intended to.

Dixie plays frosh-more schedule. They never played last year either.

Sounds like they should have let the Ryle coaches they had no intention of playing. Ryle could have scheduled someone else.
