They had a losing record last year and get beat out of the 1st round of districts by a 9-24 McCreary team. SW and Lincoln are the only teams with two players on here. Lincoln won Region and SW did what I described above.

Southwestern had multiple starters out that game with illness, and the district tournament was at MC. I’ve seen quirky things happen down there. I like all the Pulaski Co. schools being in the mix. I agree with Bodner being an impact piece at Lincoln. He is a great rim protector in this region.

SW did beat Lincoln Co. on the road in late Jan. last season. It’s very hard to win at Lincoln Co. ever. I expect a lot of parity from this region.

It’s the head coaches vote from the region. There are other very talented players in the region as well. On the flip side, you can question how good players are who have a better supporting cast on above-500 record teams.

If Aden Sloan didn't have to sit out last year he would most definitely be on the list. Darrian Bell of Danville and Luke Imfield of Boyle should also be on the list.

I love all three of those guys game. I thought Bell was the heart and soul of the Ads last season.

Just reminder, before I write this preview each season, each coach has the chance to turn in their respective votes for the Top 10 teams and Top 10 players in the 12th Region. Once I receive all of the votes, I compile them and then you get the final really. Had a good turnout of votes this past year.

That’s good to hear. It hasn’t always been that way and I always hate hearing people criticizing rankings. Chances are their coach might not have even been participating and it is hard as hell to speak on kids when no one is speaking for them.

I 110 percent agree. A couple of years ago when I put out the rankings, I’d say 30 percent of the coaches didn’t participate.

That’s all I am saying. That was always my experience when I used to cover the 12th Region for BGP. A majority of the coaches participated but I always caught grief from fans of schools whose coaches didn’t participate. It’s great to hear that even more coaches are responding now. That’s how it should be.
