BluegrassPreps Class 6A Football Rankings (9/30) - Discussion

Class 6A

Elton John insisted "Saturday Night was alright for fighting", but due to fall break it will be Thursday Night that takes the center stage this week. PRP takes their shot at Male and hope for better results than what Butler found last week. The big Thursday game will be Central Hardin hosting those Bears as the Bruins attempt to continue their undefeated season. After making short work of arch nemesis St. Xavier, Trinity still has one more out of state powerhouse up their sleeve as they head to Indy to play Cathedral. McCracken County gets special recognition for their unbelievable offensive performance against Apollo, but if they have any post season aspirations they need to sure up their defense immediately starting with Daviess County.

1. Male at Pleasure Ridge Park (10/3)

2. Trinity at Cathedral (IN)

3. St. Xavier -- OPEN

4. North Hardin vs. Meade County

5. Manual at Eastern (10/3)

6. Central Hardin vs. #7 Butler (10/3)

7. Butler at #6 Central Hardin (10/3)

8. Fern Creek vs. Oldham County

9. Ballard -- OPEN

10. McCracken County vs. Daviess County

Here are the top ten KHSAA RPI Rankings for 9-30 with their corresponding BGP rankings:

1. Male 0.762 - Ranked 1st by BGP

2. North Hardin 0.689 - Ranked 4th by BGP

3. Trinity 0.671 - Ranked 2nd by BGP

4. DuPont Manual 0.629 - Ranked 5th by BGP

5. Central Hardin 0.624 - Ranked 6th by BGP

6. Henderson County 0.601 - Ranked 12th by BGP

7. St. Xavier 0.598 - Ranked 3rd by BGP

8. McCracken County 0.583 - Ranked 10th by BGP

9. Fern Creek 0.561 - Ranked 8th by BGP

10. Ballard 0.550 - Ranked 9th by BGP

All things considered that is pretty close not that they should be or need to be close.

So for example if the highest RPI would win each district the playoffs would look like this.

Round 3

1. Male V 4. Henderson

2. Henderson V 3. Manual

1. Trinity V 4. Tate’s Creek

2. Ryle V 3. Oldham Cty

Round 4

1. Male V 4. Ryle

2. N. Hardin V 3. Trinity

Championship

1. Male V 2. Trinity

Thanks for that.

No matter how we sort it out in 2019 it is a Male vs. Trinity world and everyone else is along for the ride.

Class 6A football has some pretty good teams the season with several big name teams beating up on each other. Do you think the 6A Top 10 this week is accurate? If not who is worthy of the spot and why?

I don't see any issues with the current rankings really.

Same. I guess there might be a legitimate argument for North Hardin over St. X but X has consistently proven themselves capable of competing with T and H while North Hardin hasn't. North Hardin might be the third best team in 6A but I think most are of the notion that they'll have to see it to believe it.

Based on RPI may get a St.X at North Hardin 3rd round playoff matchup. Although St.X will have to get by Manual and/or Butler in district play while North Hardin will have to get by Central Hardin, plus St.X will have to also finish ahead of McCracken County/Henderson County in RPI. A lot of parts in play until November.

Is this RPI considering the out of state schedule? For instance, I notice Simon Kenton isn't on here and they haven't played the easiest schedule. Interesting.

Out of state is factored in. Out of state opponent’s opponents are given .50 since to hard to track down all out of state opponent’s opponents.
