Holy Cross Indians at Bishop Brossart Mustangs Football | 9/27/219 7:: PM | Digital Scout live sports scores and stats

 

The Holy Cross Indians overcome a 19 point deficit to edge the Bishop Brossart Mustangs 22-19 in the opening football game of the Mustang Athletic Complex. It is a very nice facility. HC QB Javier Ison (17-70-1) run 6 yards for the winning TD with 43 seconds left in the game. Ison also had a very nice passing day (13-21-164-2-0) hooking up with WR Brandon McClendon (4-94-1) for 53 yards near the end of the first half and with WR Brady Spencer (3-41-1) for 19 yards. The Mustangs dominated the first 23 minutes of the game. QB Jacob Leicht (16-89-1 rushing and 5-14-90-0-1 passing) showed tremendous leadership in several Bishop Brossart drives. RB Jed Martin added a rushing TD of 5 yards to open the Mustang scoring. Grant Haubner had a stunning 66 yard punt return for a TD later in the first quarter. Leicht's TD of 10 yards came in the 2nd quarter. McClendon's TD catch with 13 seconds in the half gave the Indians hope going into the break. In the second half, Holy Cross was much better defensively. Two six minute drives made the difference as the Indians record a tremendous come from behind victory.

 

Holy Cross (2-4) will have their bye week before facing district foe Beechwood on 10/11. Bishop Brossart (2-3) will stay at home next week (10/4) to face Nicholas County (3-3) in their homecoming game and first district game.

#11 for Brossart is a monster football player. He's got heart, speed, and talent. As a new Brossart guy, I look forward to his development. At a small school like that, if kids can learn from him then the future is bright.

Another nice game from Holy Cross Junior Brandon McClendon. This kid seems to get better and better each game and is one of the more underrated players in the 9th region IMO. Also a nice player on the court for basketball. I was not able to get to this game in person but heard from several people how nice this new complex is for Brossart. Well done Mustangs.

McClendon is real deal. Seen him in action a few times last two years. Playmaker. Definitely warrants and deserves more attention, and as season goes on, he will demand it.
