Final.

It’s hard to believe that Newport Catholic led only 7-0 at halftime. The scary thing is that Newport did plenty of good things, especially in the first half and in to the second half. From beginning to end, I believe that the big difference was line play on both sides of the ball for the Thoroughbreds. As the game went on, Newport Catholic was more disciplined and definitely faster. Very solid showing for Newport Catholic, especially in the second half.

Newport QB is very good. Not much support around him. Their line on both sides of the ball are terrible. NCC was in the backfield all night. Newport turned the ball over on downs twice on the goal line in 1st half.

The goal line stops that Newport Catholic had defensively played big roles in the turnout. For the most part, NC did really outplay Newport at line play, which is where games are won.

I believe the score was 10-6 at the end of 3rd quarter.

He missed a good number of wide open throws tonight. When I say missed, I am saying 5 yards off target. He also had some beautiful throws. He is talented but needs to get more consistent in his throwing.

Newport has a very solid team. If they stick together, fight through the adversity and keep working, they are a serious threat at playoff time.

Newport is much better than this score.

He started pressing late in the game and was under a ton of pressure. Yes he was way off on a few throws and was probably extremely tired from scrambling on every play plus played safety on D all night.

It was. NCC had a fumble recovery on a kick off and a pick 6 after that to nail down the win. NCC was the better team but Newport was in the game early in 2nd half. If Newport had not made mistakes they would have had a chance but NCC capitalized on the turnovers and Newport looked totally gassed in the 4th quarter.

Newport is much better than this score.

They are. Thy need to keep the pressure off their QB and maybe find someone else to play safety on D to give him a break.

I agree, if he’s going to play quarterback, he can’t play anywhere near as much as he does on defense.

When Davis is your tackle leader, hard to take him off D. Oline/Dline need to do some soul searching and step up. Newport's center could not get a snap down which lead to either Davis running for his life or a loss of 5-10 yards.
