79-2 at home since 2009 I believe.. both losses coming to McCracken. Mayfield will bounce back like they always do... but the defense has to tighten up!!

Not wanting to be too picky but 80-2 at home in that span. 79-1 coming into the season. And yes correct the other loss was also to McCracken by 1 point in OT.

I do agree with Mayfield being beat in every aspect of the game. Two big plays that did not go Mayfield's way though with the officials. Two interceptions that were both called back because of pass interference. The defender was playing the ball both times. One of the two was with 7 seconds left in the first half. Very next play McCracken scored on a long pass to end the half up by 2 TDs. Big swing there. With that being said, Mayfield was definitely outplayed. Threw WAY too many screens. The Mustangs were sniffing them out all night. Mayfield has just not looked the same since their opening game, even including the Tilghman game. They are just way too comfortable and lackadaisical. Almost looks as if they go out on the field every game already knowing they've won and that is not going to cut it, as seen tonight.

I thought all week that McCracken could win this one in a shootout. Not because I thought McCracken was an overall better team, but because it was simply a bad matchup for Mayfield.

 

Tilghman had lots of guys out in space last week and we simply couldn't get the ball where it needed to be. I thought McCracken had an advantage there.

 

I have full faith that Mayfield will get things right in the necessary positions and will be better going forward. I don't expect them any less to compete for the championship after this loss than before it.

Agreed. #5 is a HECK of a player. Can't remember his name. Quarterback is also very good and the running back #16 runs and plays hard and leaves it all out on the field.

Stinson took a whole lot of damage tonight... the pass interference before halftime was definitely questionable and did result in a McCracken TD which was huge.. with that said I feel like McCracken surprisingly out played them tonight. They are going to have to block for Stinson and start covering the deep ball.

Say what you wish but the pass interference on the next to last play before half was HUGE. No other way around it. Yes Mayfield was outplayed but plays like that can change outcomes. And Mayfield gets a little screen happy quite often point blank. When a team is in the receivers jock on every screen you're asking for trouble and they ended up picking one off. And once again I will say McCracken was the better team tonight. Line is huge. #5 is as good as it gets as far as an undersized player. He's a gamer. QB was also awesome and #16 impressed me big time too.

I agree with your comment on the defense. I've been harping on our offense a little too much in my comments but if you give up 45 points you're not going to win period. Our defense as a whole is suspect but why we keep leaving teams' #1 receiver in one on one coverage is beyond me. The Hoptown kid ate our lunch in single man coverage as did the kid tonight.

It’s easy to get screen happy when Kade Neely takes most of them to the house!! I was more surprised with McCrackens defense than anything, they adjusted well In the 2nd half much like Mayfield normally does.

Hoptown is the only game I’ve missed this year, but once I heard what their stud did I knew that would be everyone’s game plan moving forward. But I assumed tonight would be much like the PT game... a shoot out for a while with the cards pulling away. The problem ( if you can even call it a problem) with being 80-1 is any loss feels devastating especially for the fans who always leave on top. But this team probably needed a loss, just to show them they can be beat. They came out and surprised that private school from Memphis off the bar and it seems like they have been complacent since.. no doubt this will wake them up and I expect to see them in the title game once again.
