Lady Royals looked great opening up a quick 17-4 lead with about 2 Minutes left in the 1st,When tragedy struck again to Lady Royals senior guard Megan Reese when she hurt her knee again. She has blewout each of her knees the past 2 seasons and unfortunately it looks bad again.Megan we love you and hope its not as serious as it looked. This kinda took the air out of the Lady Royals and the whole gym from then on.We will be praying for you tonight Megan that all is ok and you get a speedy recovery but your a tough young lady and i know you will be fine.

Honestly didnt keep up with the stats after this happend and it was already becoming a blowout.Sorry,Maybe Sumo can put some up though.

This kid has had some rotten luck the last couple of years and I hope and pray she comes out of this ok physically as well as mentally. You know it would have to be a strain on her mind.

I have never every seen a girl have this kind of luck. 3 seasons in a row with a knee injury.. Not only bad luck for her, but for also the Lady Royals. Coach Buser already has a think bench and this makes things ever worse.

Yes a thin bench I believe is what you are saying. The Mason Co. radio announcer said a thin bench has now gotten thinner. I couldnt believe he said that :sssh:

The Lady Royals need to step it up a notch or two. I look for the Menke girls to step up and play some quality minutes for Coach Buser

Megan and her family have been thru so much the last 3 seasons. She is one of the most special players I have ever coached. Tonight was the first time i had seen her play in person, in an official game in 3 years. It broke my heart to see her down on the floor. I wish her a speedy recovery, I wish her family strength, and wish the Lady Royals Family a strong season. As coaches and fans, we sometimes forget these are 14-18 year old kids. No one deserved to be on that floor tonight playing, more than Megan. I and my team pray for you.

I understand just curious on how well Cline, Chambers, and Litzinger did. Will see the stats in the paper tommorow.

Cline ended up with 12, T. Chambers with 15, and K. Menke with 18.

That's all I can remember as far as scoring goes.

Cline and Chambers in foul trouble.. that will definately have to stop, considering they only have 3 players coming off the bench as it is.

We all need to keep Megan in our prayers. It was awful watching her fall on the floor tonight, as she kept screaming how it wasn't fair, and why is it happening to her. She deserved to play this game tonight, as well as this season. My thoughts and prayers are with her, and hopefully it's not as bad as they think.

With few players coming off the bench, it could be a long season for the Lady Royals. Everyone will have to step it up another notch.

Megan Reese, you will be in my familys thoughts and prayers throughout and we are hoping that you receive some good news. You have a heart of a lion, your as couragous of a person and athlete as I have ever encountered and you have never quit and I don't suspect you ever will and for that reason alone I look up to you and respect you. 2 ACL surgeries back to back years, all the emotional roller coasters that you have been on, you deserve to be on the basketball court this year to round out your senior season. I will hold out hope that will happen. Keep your head held high, stay positive.

Mason County started the game out 10-0, Holy Cross was outmanned from start to finish. Although the Lady Royals only dressed nine, they were much too athletic for HC.

18 for Keller Menke, 13 for Torrey Chambers, 12 for Lacey Cline, 10 for Desarae Chambers. Royals led at the quarter stops 23-6, 37-19, 51-25 and 63-36. Rebound edge to the Lady Royals 55-41; second chance points 19-10.

Lady Royals pressed until the 4th quarter, then came out in a zone; needed to protect Desarae and Lacey who were in foul trouble. Will definitely need to work on that zone; #21 (Howard?) for HC was able to find a crease and get a couple of easy buckets.

Let's hope and pray that the injury to Megan isn't as severe as it looked. I can't think of a single person in MCHS athletics that has faced so much adversity and who has worked so hard to overcome it.

A quick followup - looks like the post-game report on the radio wasn't exact on individual scoring. This per today's Maysville paper:

HC: Lantry 6, Pimberton 5, Bibbibs 4, Flesch 4, Howard 6, Noll 9, Jacks 2

MC: D. Chambers 8, Cline 12, Litzinger 8, T. Chambers 17, K. Menke 16, Hale 2

Menke with 18 in the Lexington Herald. Great Job From this talented Freshman! We LOVE you Megan and hope and pray to see you back this season.

18 is what they said at the postgame radio show as well; several of the numbers in the paper were different. In any event, she had a breakout game; I thought she was especially effective driving to the basket.

Very sad to hear about this she is one of the nicest girls and I hate to see this happen to anyone she will be in our thoughts and prayers . How will Mason handle this, who will step up off the bench someone will need to . Like to see Mason have a good year they have alot of talent but need someone to really step up now off the bench .
