Good showing by the Birds. Definitely their best team in 4-5 years.

I just tuned in to watch the 2nd half on demand.

I finished the game and have a few observations.

 

It was a very entertaining high school football game.

 

Knoxville Catholic needs to condition better.

 

Highlands relies way way too much on their QB.

 

I thought Highlands was fortunate the final score was this close, it could have easily been a three or four touchdown defeat.

 

Highlands looks well coached like always.

 

I think the formula for beating Highlands is simple, contain the QB and run straight at them.

I may have to make a trip up to NKY to catch the CCH/Highlands game(s) this year. I could see that being one, or two of the best games of the season in Kentucky.

Keep in mind, no Buten, so there was absolutely more on the shoulders of the QB. When Buten is back, that balance is going to be tough to stop... And yes, if you are 280+ Of D1 talent across your offensive line, with a running QB and stud RB, you will be just fine running it right at them. I have a feeling not many schools have that luxury.

I like your style. I think Scott Co and Frederick Douglass are there with Cov Cath and my ‘Birds are still a step behind. Hopefully they develop and are in reach of an upset when the time comes.

Two more things I might add to your response are: 1, how Highlands left two visits to the red zone with nothing. And 2, the ‘Birds defense would hold them to 3rd and long and that 6-6 QB for Knox Cath would find a way to run for a first down. This probably happened twice a drive. Drove me crazy. Obviously ifs and buts are for coconuts but I think it could have gone the other way.
