I would say that Ryle has this covered . . . .

Drive down 42 . . . from White Castle in Florence all the way to Union--Ryle everywhere. . . .

Good for Ryle......and good luck on Thursday night....I will see them on Monday on my way to work. I wouldn't get near 42 and Mall road yesterday or even today with a ten foot pole. The traffic anywhere near Mall road this time of year, at least for me, is a place to stay away from.... :D

I'm pretty sure that if I were to drive down Dixie Highway on my way to the 2007 State Championship football game and Highlands was in the 5A state game, there wouldn't be one sign in any store front on Dixie Highway that would say Go Birds Win State. Just a hunch but don't think it's going to happen in my life time. However, please prove me wrong.:thumb:

ZERO CHANCE

The Fort USED to really paint the town up when HHS was in the playoffs. Now that "everyone" is in, it isn't as "special"...unless you're playing! Even the cheerleaders and band are more into competitions...which for them is good, I guess. But it takes away from the atmosphere big time!
I agree with the fact that you don't see the town getting as worked up over state championship appearances. I think we got spoiled with our long run of state games. Game attendance by students seemed to drop off, store windows don't get painted like they once did, and there just seems to be a lack of excitement about the team -- outside of the parents and students that is. I think the team's success has led to the feeling that state championships are just part of the course of events. They stopped being so special.

Now, I'm not saying I want the team to go into a prolonged slump. And I'm also not saying any of this applies to every Highlands fan or Fort Thomas resident. But I do think we, as a town, need to appreciate what we have more, and the effort our team puts forth to live up to the tradition laid down by their predecessors.

You know Birdsfan, I agree with you totally. When I saw some of your fans leaving early from the playoff game, I was stunned. I had never seen any fan from Ft. Thomas ever leave early... I have told some CovCath Crazies that winning isn't a birth rite of going to CovCath, nor for the fans of Highlands either. Appreciate what you have done, and work hard to follow that tradition, but fans need to support their team no matter what happens.....

What makes you think those were Highlands fans leaving. There were many people from other schools sitting on the Highlands side of the field that day. Many people attended just to see a great game and not necessarily affiliated with either school, many of which happened to be sitting or standing on the Highlands side . I saw very few if any of the Highlands faithful leaving before the end of the game. Remember, just because people are headed out doesn't mean they were Highlands fans.

I could handle the GO Colonels and GO Raiders stuff but Go Breds? Nah I'll pass. :D

Henry, please note, "I said some," and I said "I had never seen any fan from Ft. Thomas ever leave early", but it happened, and that is why I was stuned...... Please trust me on this one....I really was surprised....to see it also....

I like the Highlands football team and root for them in every week except of course CovCath week. Your tradition is something to be proud of, and for many to use as an example, a great academic school which I think is more important than any sports team, so please, please don't get upset with me, for just telling you what I saw....OK....

I guess since I left the stands with a minute left to meet my son come off the field for the last time in his high school football career you thought I was one of those fans that left early?

How about only GO Colonels:lol:

Im sure by thursday many things will change.

Nice job. :thumb:

Things in NKY are a bit more complicated though. I don't expect many (if any) businesses in the area to wish best of luck to all the teams still playing.
