Hard Rock Fan
Is anybody other than Coker surprised? I'm not.
RockPride
My wife and I watched the game last night, and she commented on why he was getting hounded about his job....now look at this? I hope Shalala has a plan.
RockPride
I wouldn't be suprised to see Schiano involved now that Rutgers is no longer undefeated and that they are not garnering much respect again.

I hope Shalala has a plan. IMO he's lost control of the team. They haven't been feared over the past few seasons and the only thing they can win is onfield fights. I think Shalala's plan is the same as always "do nothing and defend that's it's plenty."

Hard Rock Fan
I think everyone saw this coming. Apparently not Coker. Well maybe he did, he just didn't want to admit it.
STRIKE3
Coker seems like a great guy, very good coach and far too often, the coach gets the credit or in this case, the blame for the actions of his players. I know the argument would be, "he and his staff recruited them"....which they did but they are young men, young adults if you will and they must be responsible for their conduct, actions and respectful. Miami has long had a reputation, of less than stellar character players and perhaps the will to win, has been overlooked and perhaps the players themselves, must be held accountable. Too many instances have occurred over the years for the Hurricanes and growing up and being responsible, is as important, as winning football games....because this time, it cost a good man his job. cvillecat
I think his job ended after the brawl. He did seem to lose control of the situation at Miami but I am not convinced it was all his fault. Someone will hire him.
Hard Rock Fan
Let's not forget about the Miami brawl after their bowl game last year. The brawl against Florida International Atlantic Coastal or whatever their name is, isn't the first time occurance. This team has been trouble for some time. Even with players like Kellen Winslow Jr and Jeremy Shockey who are good players, but run their mouths way too much and have terrible attitudes. IMO the character of Miami has been in question for some time and it finally caught up with them.

IMO the character of Miami has been in question for some time and it finally caught up with them. Here's the thing though. As you pointed out, the question of character at the "U" has been in doubt for some time. So is this Larry Coker's fault? Has he been there since these problems started? I would say no. You can't pin all this on Coker. I think it has more to do with the kids than anything, maybe a little of the attitude down there in Coral Gables? Blame Coker if you like, but I don't think there is really much a coach can do when young men of that size charge the field, except discipline them afterwards. I am, by no means, a Miami apologist, in fact I can't stand them. But as pointed out earlier, sometimes the coach is blamed more than he should be in instances like this. But he has recruited everyone of them. He's been there long enough to weed out the bad apples and try to clean the place up. Is it his fault? Maybe, maybe not. But 9 times out of 10, the coach will get canned.
Augger
Coker will not stay unemployed long. You can bet on that.
bugatti
Apparently not Coker. Well maybe he did, he just didn't want to admit it. Something tells me Coker's office was boxed up before last night's game. The release of Coker was more predictable than the ending of Titanic. letabrotherspeak
Schiano would be obvious...but I have heard that he may be waiting on the Penn State job.
