May 17, 20197 yr According to the Variety article below, the former Twilight star will play the Caped Crusader in the 2021 film "The Batman." I'm skeptical, but I felt the same way when Heath Ledger was cast as The Joker, and we all know how that turned out. He’s going from sex symbol to bat symbol. Sources tell Variety that Robert Pattinson is in negotiations to play "The Batman" in Matt Reeves' forthcoming superhero film, which hits theaters June 25, 2021. While sources say it’s not yet a done deal, Pattinson is the top choice and it’s expected to close shortly. Warner Bros. had no comment. Pre-production on the Warner Bros.-DC Comics pic is expected to start this summer. Reeves, the filmmaker behind the last two “Planet of the Apes” sequels, assumed "Batman" directing duties from Ben Affleck in January 2017 and has been developing the elusive project ever since. Affleck and Warner Bros. began discussing the actor-director leaving the Caped Crusader behind following “Justice League,” allowing Reeves to pick his own Bruce Wayne. Reeves will produce "The Batman" with his “Planet of the Apes” collaborator Dylan Clark. Robert Pattinson Is ‘The Batman’ – Variety
May 17, 20197 yr I'm in the camp that didn't like the Ledger selection but was happily surprised by his "Joker" performance. Hopefully, if Pattinson is selected he'll surprise as well. I really dislike having a smallish or scrawny actor play Batman, that's part of the reason that I liked Affleck as Batman.
May 17, 20197 yr The last two Batman movies weren't even half as good as the ones with Christian Bale.
May 17, 20197 yr The last two Batman movies weren't even half as good as the ones with Christian Bale. But did Bale make them great or was it great writing and directing? I liked Bale, but he wasn't a great Batman. He was good but not great. Affleck was more in line with the comic book Batman than anyone else that has played Batman so far. Tom Hardy as Bane was horrible in Batman Rises and nearly ruined the movie for me, all by himself.
