Raceland Football 2006- "a look back"

Featured Replies

The 2006 Raceland Rams will always be remembered as the team that set the bar for all future Rams! They had a great season the included victories over all of their rivals (Ashland,Fairview,G.C., and LCA), the schools 16'th district championship, and a regional runner-up. They also broke numerous school records as a team and as individuals. LB J.T. Forrest possibly became the schools all-time leading tackler. QB Scott Grizzle became the schools all-time leading passer in all categories except comp. % ( he completed 65% for his career, Pettrey comp. 72%). WR/KR Derrick Beach broke the single season record for kick/punt return yardage and TD's. All three of these seniors are planning on playing at the next level. Forrest is being recruited by several D3 and NAIA schools. I know he has a visit to Mount St. Joseph this weekend and he has also visited Georgetown earlier this year. Grizzle has a prefered walk-on offer from Eastern Kentucky Universtiy and he is also being contaced on a regular basis from Mount Union, Georgetown, Centre, and some other D2 & D3 schools. Beach is being recruited heavily be Kentucky State and I also heard WVU is showing alot of interest. Beach and Grizzle also have the possibilty of playing at the college level in other sports. Grizzle is an all-area and all-region pitcher for the Rams and Beach is an excellent sprinter for the track team. Best of luck to all the RAMS seniors on their future aspirations. Thanks for all the memories and victories RAMS! 2006 RHS RAMS 11-2 District Champions!

What more can you say about those Rams? Outstanding season just plain and simple. I know they wanted more and I know they are feeling a little empty right now but they know we are just beaming with pride. You are right about the program they start wanting to play as soon as they can pick up a toy football. You are right about who is getting looks. Stephens and Caldwell are getting some looks. Thompson i believe holds a different kind of record(defensive touchdowns)which hasnt gone un-noticed. He will be meeting with Campbellsville, Georgetown, KCU and Thomas Moore. One of the boys said he got a letter from a recruitor that had some words of wisdom that he passed to me. I am not sure exactly how it went but i felt this sums this year up and lets get excited about next year.

Cherish the memories of a great high school program and career

Begin planning your future on and off the field

Focus on the victories yet to come

With that said I wish blessings on our fine seniors.

Underclassmen lets gear up for another season of Ram football

Good post MVP007 but I hate to rain on your parade. This team was a great team and had a very special season but the bar for Raceland Ram Football has always been set high and the teams of the past can't be left off the agenda. Raceland football has a great Tradition as the previous district championships and regional runner up appearances will prove. All Senior classes before this one left their mark on Ram football in one way or another. That is what made this TEAM so special, they understood the tradition that was laid before them and they worked to meet the challenge to carry it on. This team carried the Ram flame high and did so with the highest amount of respect and integrity and for that they will be remembered as one of the best ever. Pride and Tradition Never Graduate and Once a Ram Always A Ram....:thumb:

:thumb: :thumb: Well said cvillecat! This team did carry on a LONG tradition of winning football at Raceland and I agree 100% about the teams from the past. Imo without a past you have no tradition, only a good team for the year specified. Raceland has been in 9 other Regional Finals I believe and as myself and others have said have 16 District titles. You don't build that kind of tradition in a one or a few years. Some other schoools haved had a 2-3-4 year run (and I am not talking about LCA) and claimed tradition but imo they had a good run and a start on building, not a n established tradition like schools such as Raceland, Ashland, Russell, Lawrence and others that have done it through the years. By the way MVP, I LOVE your avatar!!:thumb:

Great season Rams!! My hat is off to the players, coaches, cheerleaders, fans, and community. Good luck to all the seniors. Look for bigger and better things down the road.
