Lewis County owns this district and I don't see that changing anytime soon. Raceland will good the next few years as well.

I don't agree. Yeah Lewis won this past season but to say they own the District is crazy. Lewis will be lucky if they win again this year. Raceland,Russell or Greenup County could very well beat Lewis County. There is not one team that owns the district. When Lewis wins 5 or 10 years in a row then maybe we can talk.

I have to agree with GOREDDEVILS. I think the District is going to be very competitive the next couple years. Russell should be better as well as Raceland and Greenup Co. it should be fun from a fans standpoint.

I have a question for people in the know .... “Was Russell’s last two hires teachers or were they outside of the education field?”

Bryan Groves is faculty at Russell High School and Russell Middle School per Russell Independent's web site.

I am not sure about Jason Strader.

I’m surprised Russell is Open again. Will this be their 4th coach in 7 years?

That is a tough way to build a program.

What happen with these coaches? Fired, resigned ?

If memory serves they were all fired.

This job will draw a lot of interest. Good School, good community and good talent returning.

Russell’s last two hires were young inexperienced head coaches. I believe Russell will go with a head coach that has experience this time around. Hire somebody that can maximum the talent right away.

A lot of administrators are looking for those young coach that will stay for 20 yrs. Unfortunately most schools do not allow a coach to stay for 20 years and grow thru their mistakes. (Ex: Russell)

For that reason I’m thinking Russell goes with an experienced coach. Of course that is just might opinion.

Will be the 7th coach in 20 years.

Wow!! I didn’t realize they have had that much turnover. I knew about the last 6 years but didn’t realize it had extended to that long of period.

Maybe Russell should go after Hager Easterling?

Maybe Russell should go after Hager Easterling?

If they are smart, they would.

Hmmmm .... are you being serious?

The AD fires the head coach then applies for the job? You have to be joking.

That's what I have heard the coach was probably let go by the principal they may consult with the AD but it's the principal makes the final decision.
