2019 NFL Draft Updates

Featured Replies

JT had the same talent around him for 4 years, as did Braxton, Dwayne put up the best season in school history in 1 attempt and made it look like high school. Sure I’m biased, I go back 2 years ago when he was a freshman and sitting behind JT and all the players were whispering “why isn’t Dwayne playing?”

As you said, we will see how it pans out. It will be fun twice a year to watch the Skins and Giants for sure.

Rumor has it the Manning’s picked Eli’s understudy.

Rumor from where? I am a diehard giants fan and frequent giants message boards daily and havent seen that rumor.

It’s out there...

Jones is plenty familiar with Manning. The Giants’ veteran quarterback has held minicamps with Cutcliffe at Duke in past offseasons and Jones has also attended the Manning Passing Academy twice.

It doesn't have any legs, especially if you cant point to where you saw it. There's nothing of the sort on any giants message board I visit daily and there are always rumors there (some are legit, some not). Heck, Giants beat writers post there from time ti time and will research the bigger rumors.

None of them have made this claim either.

Because he is familiar with the family doesnt mean the Giants let the Mannings pick him.

The Manning family trying to influence where a QB goes, that would never happen. Maybe Eli will sign Jones’ Eli Manning passing camp t-shirt at OTA’s now lol.

I’m gonna cut you some slack because I respect your loyalty. Gettleman should be hooking you up with box seats. After OBJ, Landon Collins and Jones you’re still staying true.

The fact still remains that multiple teams passed on Haskins.

Broncos didnt want him.

Bengals didnt want him.

Cards didnt want him.

You get it. You keep bringing up me being a Giants fan. I think your judgement is a tad biased for Haskins too.

Think Haskins does any better on Dukes team last year? I don't, because he isnt mobile and doesnt have NFL receivers running routes and catching passes.

And again, I've never said the Giants made the right pick. Only that im willing to wait and see.

Why do you keep bringing up Haskins? This isn’t about Haskins. It’s about Jones lack of qualification to be the 6th overall pick. You can’t take an average college QB and make him a great NFL QB. There is one example of that ever happening and that dude fell to the 6th round. But since you keep bringing up Haskins, you can’t keep bringing up the argument that Haskins played on a better team than Jones. It’s an irrelevant argument because there is no way to prove either would be better or worse if the roles were reversed. Again the argument that a QB is just a product of his environment is only used when it fits the narrative of the person forming the argument. You aren’t using that argument against Murray despite having similar talent on offense as Haskins, and you won’t use that argument against Tua. You’re just using that argument now because the media and fans across the country are raining hell down on your franchise and what seems right now to be horrendous decision making. I just think tearing down the guy most people think you should have taken by using unfair and illogical arguments is the wrong way to go about it.

You would have passed on Dwayne also?

You speak for John Anthony? Because he asked this question...

I never tore down anyone. I said if the roles were switched Haskins wouldn't have done any better at Duke.

I also said I'll wait to judge the pick. My goodness, the nerve...

I also said multiple teams who could use a QB passed on Haskins. You do see that right?

You have no way of knowing if Haskins was on Duke if he would have put up better numbers than Jones. Of the teams you mentioned none really needed a QB. With Arizona, Haskins doesn’t fit what Kingsbury wants to do on offense. The Broncos traded back in the draft. The Bengals didn’t even bring him in for an interview (nor any of the top 4 QBs) and seem really content with Dalton. It’s hard to say any of those 3 teams “passed” on Haskins.

They all passed on him. They didnt pick him.

Arizona passed on Haskins when they have a head coach who runs a unique offensive system designed around having a mobile QB. Clearly Haskins isn’t that. Tom Brady wouldn’t be able to run that specific system. Arizona didn’t pass on Haskins. The Broncos picked after the Redskins took Haskins. The Bengals have a QB. In no way shape or form is that comparable to the Giants choosing Jones over Haskins. Which by the way isn’t my problem at all. My problem is with Daniel Jones. If you don’t like Haskins, fine. But to not like Haskins and then take Daniel Jones is at best a curious decision. Then when you add in how much Gettleman contradicts himself, it makes even less sense. Literally two weeks ago Gettleman insinuated that a reporter was being ridiculous for suggesting that a QB is worthy of being drafted ahead of players higher on the draft board because the position is more important. Clearly QB is more important, but Gettleman does himself zero favors and comes across to a large majority of people as an absolute moron.

Denver traded out of the 10th spot. They passed on Haskins. Make excuses for why every team passed, thats fine, but they passed on him for one reason or another. Im not saying that he will not be a good NFL QB, but plenty of teams had the chance to take him and decided not to for one reason or another.

And how do you know how high Gettleman had Jones on his board?

Fyi, he actually said he had Jones and Allen with the same ranking on their board. So while you (are you a pro scout?) might disagree with a professional who has a decent draft track record, he did not contradict himself.

Just like you have no way of knowing if Jones was a bad pick, at this point. Obviously we will get to find out but to say the Giants made a mistake like it's fact is the same as HB20 saying Haskins would not have done any better if on Duke than Jones did. Both are speculations.

If he had Daniel Jones and Josh Allen with the same ranking in his board that makes him look like an even bigger moron than he already appears to be. Josh Allen was one of the 3 best players in this draft. Gettleman is an absolute moron. How can you support what this guy is doing to your franchise? You’ve become the Cleveland Browns.

Most of my posts have revolved around the fact that Gettleman has no idea what he’s doing. I mean look no further than the last post HB20 made. Gettleman said Josh Allen and Daniel Jones were ranked the same on his draft board. You’re a UK guy, you know how absolutely absurd that statement is. It’s not even about Haskins at this point. It’s about how absolutely horrific Gettleman is at making decisions and how much he contradicts himself.
