gametime
The way he carried his team after they had the fire sale was amazing. Good call...
sweet16
He deserved the award but if you look deeper into the numbers besides HR and RBIs then Pujols should have won.

What else can he do for his team? His back has to hurt because the Phillies rode him the last half of the season.

The only reason that the Phillies were in the wild card race at the end of the year was due to Howard and Utley playing out of their minds. Howard killed in September. Pujols had a great year, but his team basically collapsed in September, while the Phillies stayed in the race. Had the rest of the Central not been horrible, the Cardinals would have had an epic collapse. As it is, they won the title, but the MVP is for the regular season. His team may have collapsed but they still made the playoffs and the Phillies did not. The reason the Cards made the playoffs is that Pujols played out of his mind during the 1st 2 months of the year and that helped them stay afloat during the rough stretch. Pujols regular season was just as good as HOward's season. I didn't say howard wasn't deserving. He had a great year but I think Pujols' was a little better if you look at all the numbers. Pujols' back is hurting for carrying the Cards all year except when he was on the DL.
mcpapa
Well deserved; it was a toss-up between Howard and Pujols. Wonder if the exposure at the all-star HR Derby helped at all? Some of the third-place votes were amusing.
