November 15, 200619 yr I wasn't going to say anything and hope the game just snuck by. There's no secret to stopping South Florida. Stop redshirt freshman QB Matt Grothe (pronounced growthy). Cincinnati is the only team to really slow him down this year, and they made him look like a freshman. He gave Rutgers fits. Matt accounted for 409 yards of total offense (Big East season high) last week against Syracuse, 364 passing, 45 running. He did that on a bad wheel that he originally injured in the UConn game and re-injured against Pitt. You could tell it was bothering him last weekend. Grothe didn't have that burst of speed he normally does when running. I love watching this kid. He's made at least one play in every game, except UC, that simply amazed me. Coach Leavitt dismissed 2 players from the team Monday. Jackie Chambers, a receiver who's been suspended for most of this season and starting offensive left tackle Thed Watson, who was a contender for the Outland trophy early in the year. November 16, 200619 yr Louisville gets back on track. Reading in the Courier-Journal this week, Letters to the Editor in the Sports Section have blasted Coach Petrino and the Cards. Very surprising. UL probably going to finish 11-1 and they get blasted for one loss. I guess that means the bar has been raised. However, 11-1 or 10-2 is a great record every team in the country would take.

He had no help, though. The Bulls only had 309 yards of total offense as a team. USF spent that game shooting themselves in the foot. Everytime they'd get a drive going, they'd do something stupid and get a pentalty or they would turn the ball over. An offensive pass interferance (good call) killed a real scoring drive in the 4th. The game ended on an interception in the end zone with the Bulls driving. Cincinnati held Matt to 57 total yards, 47 passing, 10 rushing.

I know the Cards have had a week and a half to prepare, but do you think there's any chance they tank and blow this one? Remember, prior to beating West Virginia, Louisville had been struggling to win low-scoring ballgames. South Florida seems to thrive in low-scoring games. By the way, I don't believe any of my questions! Louisville 28, South Florida 14.
