Take the KHSAA Stats With a Grain Of Salt

Featured Replies

So I checked to see if Dontaie Allen still leads the state in scoring and rebounding.

The answer is is yes and no. Still leads in scoring, but has been overtaken by someone averaging 80 boards per game.

That’s gotta be some kind of record.

Do you know how many games you have to play to qualify for the title ?

I do not

But the minimum to qualify at this point of the season is 8. So my guess is at least 15 or 16 for a full season.

Just checked last year’s stats. Minimum number of games to qualify was 20.

That's not good.

If schools would sign up with Hudl for a reasonable fee the stats would be as close to accurate as possible. Our school videos each game and sends it to Hudl and they have the complete stats back the next day. They may miss a few things but would have to be more accurate than the old ways. I’ve seen some wild stats from games in past years. One team in our region would have a kid with 18 rebounds and 9 blocks in a small write up the following day in the Herald-Leader when our game film had him with 8 rebounds and 2 blocks. There’s been a lot of embellishments in statewide stat records over the years imo.

80 boards a game is pretty impressive; but, I heard he was Spud Webb's grandson. At 5'6" it makes 80 boards a game almost unbelieveable.

It costs but you’re right, it is worth it.

I pretty much take everything with the KHSAA with a grain of salt, but I digress.

Our girls and boys programs each pay $600 for the service. It’s worth it. They send a great detailed statical breakdown of the game taken from the video.
