The Federal judge can make his ruling that he can play. He/She can’t rule on eligibility, therefore Marshall Co will have to decide if they want to forfeit all the games he plays in.

It’s all arbitrary and that is the problem. The KHSAA has TOO much power and they don’t answer to anyone. I commend Frakes for his efforts! Shine some light on how certain people don’t move and don’t have any extenuating circumstances and are eligible and others that move are not. I think there needs to be a house cleaning and start at the top.

From what I understand it is well within the rules for him to be practicing with the team.

 

He is ineligible for a year. A year from the date he last played for Adair County. Once that anniversary passes he can play.

Last year when a student athlete (football) from Somerset took on the KHSAA and got an injunction from the court and was able to play 5 games. Due to a clerical error, the injunction ran out and the student did not get to finish the year but yes, they can play under the injunction and no, the team will not forfeit any games if they play him. Just FYI, our US court system does have the final say and not the KHSAA.

You (and others) need to download a copy of the KHSAA By-Laws and read them. “They” are the member schools. “They” make the rules. “They” agree to abide by the rules.

Evidently the rule on practice was changed a couple of years ago. It is poorly worded but basically leaves practice to the discretion of the school. However it does not mention JV games.

Both rules have recently been changed. Both can occur now. It is up to the individual school on how they handle it but they can practice and play JV.
