St. Henry finally gets off the schneid . Vieth played a nice game for the Crusaders. Seemed a little more agressive rebounding and going after the ball. Had to have a double double. Good play from the rest of the team.

As stated in the original post for Ryle, the more things change, the more they stay the same. I thought Ryle played uninspired. I know the Benton boy can shoot outside, but at 6-8 I'd think the coach would make him post more for high school ball. Rankin does not seem very explosive. Kid works hard but not sure if he is battling an old injury or something.

More of the same for Ryle. I just can't believe this. They have some pieces, and I know the coaching staff works hard. Has to be very frustrating for all involved.

I realize that you didn't mean anything insulting with saying "schneid" and were complementary to the Cru in your post, and while technically true being winless in their 3 outings previous to their victory over Ryle, perhaps maybe a bit misleading since they jumped out of the gate with tall order games against Cooper, CovCath, and Conner.

 

They showed a respectable amount of toughness against the Colonels and Jags, and came up just a hair short with the Cougars.

 

Losing is never fun, but in their case i'd venture to say that they grew leaps and bounds with these early big challenges, and also by smartly not scheduling any cupcakes to get their season rolling.

 

As they're gonna be well tested, I'm predicting now that this is their year to be 34th District champs, and won't be an easy out for anybody come the 9th Region Tourney time.

 

I like this Cru team, and am happy for them to once again be competitively in the thick of things after a couple of down seasons.

Most kids playing varsity basketball can stand outside and make uncontested shots. Let's be clear on this. Being a better shooter than some other tall kids does not constitute being a "good" shooter. Good shooters have range, consistent results, and do not have to be WIDE open.

This score is shocking to me. I thought Ryle would turn the corner this year. That being said, it's just week 2.

I went and watched Ryle play last week and let me just say. You don’t have to be athletic to play good defense. Unless you are playing for McFarland. He has big footed defenders playing a deny man to man and sort of a zone. Maybe a matchup zone? Every single possession they leave the lane wide open. Getting shots in the lane looks to be the easiest task I’ve seen. Then they hug the outside shooter once the ball pentrates the lane. There is no help at all. This is coaching and nothing else. They could line up and play a basic 2-3 and do better than what they’re doing.

 

Offensively the players do not agree with their coach. McFarland called a team meeting and told the kids that the reason they lose is because of them. Cited kids not running the offense etc.

 

It’s truly a shame what is going on there.

Agreed as was indicated by my first sentence. Used it more or less as a launch pad to delve deeper into how they kicked off the season, and with what teams. My apologies if my use of "somewhat misleading" sounded misleading as if I were questioning you. Everything that you said was correct and complementary to the Cru. Unfortunately it wasn't just a team meeting, it was with parents to let us know we are a large part of why the team is in such turmoil. SMH.
