Final!!

Super great game by Campbellsville. They kept it close till Beechwood ran away and hid in the 2nd half. Campbellsville was uber athletic and was very impressive. Castleman was just a stud again tonight. The kid runs so hard and just keeps pounding till he finds an opening and exploits it. Hergott has an off night throwing but ran the ball very effectively. Good game to watch.

Anytime!!

We (Campbellsville) came in knowing we had to play flawless football... we layed it on the line and left it all on the field... Hats off to Beechwood, they are a Great Program... But, we closed the gap a little bit, and winter workouts will start soon... And we will Be Back again next year if the Good Lord’s willing and the creeks don’t rise... Good Luck Beechwood... Go Get the Ship...

Congrats Beechwood. Glad to see Campbellsville travel and make this a competitive game. I got my eye on you next year....

This was a fun game to watch. Campbellsville has some athletes. That one handed catch the kid made on the sideline was a great catch. I'm glad this game wasn't a blowout so the Tigers can get ready for a very tough game.

This game was a battle. Don't be fooled by the final score. Malachi Corley is the real deal for Campbellsville. So is Logan Castleman for Beechwood. Both teams made mistakes and turnovers that you usually don't see from these teams. It was not the most well played game you will see, but it was very entertaining with great plays and players on both teams.

Campbellsville came out strong. They moved the ball pretty well their first two drives. Corley made an impossible catch. While being perfectly guarded on a long pass down the sideline, Corley reach over the defender with one hand and took what looked like a sure interception away with a one handed catch. Odell Beckham would have been jealous of that catch. The Tigers learned they were facing a special player, and adjusted the defense in response. Campbellsville held nothing back and went for it on 4th down on their first two drives, but the Tigers defense got stops both times.

It was a back and forth battle with both teams turning it over. The key to the game was the last few minutes of the first half. Beechwood was leading 14-7 when Campbellsville ran a perfectly called and executed fake punt on 4th and 48 that went for a 58 yard touchdown. That score happened with 5:39 to go in the half. Beechwood came right back on a 58 yard drive and scored with 1:50 to take a 21-13 lead. Then Tyler Donoho intercepted a Campbellsville pass. Beechwood had 45 seconds to try and score from 42 yards out. On the last play of the half, Beechwood quarterback Cameron Hergott scrambled for an 18 yard touchdown as time ran out in the half. That gave some cushion, changed momentum and Beechwood led 27-13 at halftime.

The Beechwood coaches made adjustments on defense at halftime, doubling Corley and using a 3 man defensive line. That worked and the Tigers fought their way out to a 34-13 lead in the third quarter. Then they scored early in the fourth quarter to stretch the lead to 41-13 and Campbellsville finally appeared to realize the Tigers were too much.

Logan Castleman was something else once again. Last week against Frankfort he had 23 carries for 258 yards and 5 touchdowns. He may have topped those carry and yardage totals in this one while scoring 4 times. He also added a bruising interception where he beat the receiver to a ball on a crossing pattern and not only made a huge hit but hung on for the interception.

Campbellsville was an impressive team. Malachi Corley may be a candidate for Mr. Kentucky next year. He is that good and he is only a junior. Several other key players are underclassmen, including quarterback Arren Hash. Campbellsville will be a force next year in 1A.

Not enough can be said about Beechwood and their senior class. These seniors are headed to their fourth straight state championship game. Not many players in state history can make that claim. Congratulations to the Tigers and a well earned trip to another title game.

Very good assement of the game. I was impressed with Campbellsville. They played hard.

You are right about the senior class. Not to many kids get to play in one state game yet alone 4 straight. I was very blessed to be part of Beechwood's first senior class to play in 4 straight title games.

Campbellsville will be a force in 1A next year! Nothing to hang their heads about! The score does not show how good of a game this was!

Anytime!!

Thank youBWT. Your updates made me almost feel like I was there.
