November 8, 200619 yr I've not had to show ID ever; either I have an honest face, or, much more likely, the workers have always known me fairly well.
November 8, 200619 yr I would say that it is up to states to decide if an ID should be shown. Since there are no laws that require a person to have an ID, this issue will have controversy.
November 8, 200619 yr Ever since I've lived in VA (1991) I've had to show ID. Now sometimes I knew the people at the books and they just marked it down and I didn't have to flash it but if someone doesn't know me I have always been asked to show my Driver's License. BTW Hearsay, I don't think the Dems are going to be screaming foul over anything from yesterday.
November 8, 200619 yr If someone at the poll (an election official, not another voter) knows you and verify that you are who you say you are, you don't need to show an ID. There were four women at the polling place where I voted and they were discussing that they did not know the gentleman in front of me. But the ones that they did know, they did not have to show an ID. I did notice that when I signed the book, they are required to mark how identification was verified.
