Boyle County vs Corbin 8th Grade (KYMSFA Division II State Semi's)

Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to play football on back-to-back days. Even at the middle school level, that's a lot to ask.

I agree. I understand you’ve got to get the season wrapped up, but playing back to back days isn’t good for players or coaches (who can’t really prepare their team for the opponent). It’s just not healthy or fair to the teams.

The first year they played both games the same day. That sucked and might of cost Bell Co in the championship game.

I didn’t see Holmes play this year. And I haven’t seen any schools outside of NKY play this year. And to say the top NKY teams couldn’t compete, is probably a bit of a stretch on my part, and not completely fair. Week in, week out the top NKMSAA teams would probably compete during the regular season. To be clearer, I should have said they couldn’t compete with the top KYMSFA teams. I’ve seen some of those teams over the years, and to be perfectly frank, it wouldn’t be close. Like it or not, those teams are on a different level. Go check out a few semi final/finals games in Lexington this weekend and you’ll get it. Over the last 10 years, I’d say there’s only a few NKMSAA that could have competed for a state title in the KYMSFA.

Honestly, this topic should probably be a thread on its own.

Then which team did you see as being the Dominant team in NKY if it wasn’t Holmes? Just curious. Admittedly I haven’t gotten the opportunity to watch a lot of middle schools in other conferences. Full disclosure I had a son playing for Turkeyfoot so I got to see some teams up close and personal. I just know size, athleticism, and coaching when I see it. And the Holmes squad had the stars aligned for them this year. Please don’t misunderstand, I’m not saying they would beat anyone in another conference, I’m just saying that squad would go deep in any bracket.

Let me clear up what I'm trying to say. Holmes very well may have been the best team in the NKMSAA this year. Holmes does have the advantage of playing down a division (their enrollment is larger than both Summit View and Woodland who play in the large division), and I'm not sure if they would have been as dominant this year playing in the Large School Division, although there's a good chance they would have won that division too.

The other point is how they (or any other NKMSAA school) would fair in the state wide league, the KYMSFA. In my opinion, based on what I've seen and aware of, is generally, NKMSAA teams over the last 10 years would not have faired very well. There is usually a wide gap between the top KYMSFA schools and the NKMSAA schools. Personally, I don't think that would be any different this year. I don't think any NKMSAA team this year would even have been in the top 10. And that's just being honest...think about it, the majority of the high schools the NKMSAA feed into aren't traditional powers challenging for state titles, aside from Beechwood and NCC. SK would be the other perennial top 10 team, but their team is split into two feeders.

Not much discussion about the two teams playing each other on this thread, will their be any kind of stream or broadcast of this game anything at all to keep up with the score?

Not that I know of, Prepspin is not doing the games this year.
