Bethlehem by a touchdown. Bardstown is good, don't get me wrong. BUT two of their performances in last four weeks have been horrendous. And if you are not aware I am talking about their games against KCD. I do not see Bardstown going very far even if they do beat Bethlehem.

Really quite scary to win 52-15 and 41-14 and play such horrendus games. This doesn't bode well for the rest of the state if they ever do put one together.

Bardstown has too much for Bethlehem. Coach Downs has done a great job again this year. I had the opportunity to interview him last year before sub-state and he was a class act before and after the game against Mayfield. The Tigers win by three touchdowns and will take on Danville for the Regional Title. That is a game I would love to see...but hopefully I will be busy with the Cards in their own Regional Title game.

Just went out to the field and it looks really good, especially considering its been raining. Garnis Martin Field has always drained well, but this is in good shape. Forecast good for Friday.

Just watched a few first half series of the earlier game. Bardstown's O-line comes off the ball really well, and low. They don't actually sustain blocks as much as you would like, but the initial surge is very good.

 

Bethlehem's D-lineman are way, way too high. Linebackers were getting caught behind downfield D-lineman getting blown off. Michael Kidwell actually played OK at end, but the other three struggled. I at first thought that 3 of the 4 TD runs were on designed cutback plays because the backside D-lineman were so far downfield, but in reviewing it, it was nothing but a straight lead play where Scott made cutbacks to the empty space.

 

Its as simple as that. Either, Bethlehem's defensive lineman take it to the Bardstown O-line, or this one is over.

KCD had a lot of chances but never fully capitalized. If bardstown does this against a good team (Bethlehem) or any other team they will get blown out. Simple as that.

Bardstown did play Bethlehem if you don't recall. And I don't think it was a blowout. Maybe a 28-0 victory. Good luck next year.

this will be an interesting game. Bethlehem will come to garnis martin field with a lot of emotion because of the post game events of their previous meeting. i believe this game lies on the hands of the offensive and defensive lines. in the matchup 2 weeks ago bardstown's o-line dominated in the slop. with the middle three Mike thompson, Jeremy Gesser, and Aj lewis handled bethlhems 2 techniques and mike with no problem. I say bardstown wins in a nail-biter.

Bethlehem's Mike LB that week was Kent Simpson, and I don't think Bardstown handled him, he actually had a pretty good game. But I do agree that Lewis, Thompson/Carter, and Gesser controlled the inside.

 

The post-game "incident" was as much caused by Bethlehem and by circumstances as it was by Bardstown, but other than that I don't think it merits more discussion. The only thing that could compound it for the Eagles would be to try and go over and stomp the Tiger. I think if that were done you would see the worst humiliation of a Bardstown opponent since the Tigers beat Henry County 77-0 in the first-round of the playoffs in 1992. Trick play every play, throw it deep every play, starters in until the final gun, bad feeling all around for years to come . . .

Honestly, you're probably right in terms of the fans' reactions, but many of these boys are friends, and they have had some lighthearted bantering back and forth this week, and I think both teams respect each other for the quality of thier teams, and they'll survive this just fine! These are not your typical smack talking kind of kids. These games all contribute to establishing a great rivalry that will create a buzz year after year! And I like it!

Good. I hope, and believe it will be, a good, clean football game between two very talented groups of players.

Emotion will be very high on both sides,there' s no doubt. I look for A.J. Lewis to have the best defensive game of his career. The entire team will support this performance and enjoy it!

I agree Georgia Pass. Lewis is an extremely explosive player. Sometimes it seems his technique gets flawed when stirred in with all the emotion, but I think on friday night he will be extremely focused and dominate at whatever position he plays on the d-line.
