STPB Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 Congrats to Highlands on winning the 9th Region Championship tonight over NDA. This is Highlands first Regional Championship since 2010. Both teams played a great game but Highlands was able to make the 1st half goal stand. Tough defense played by the Birds and NDA fought to the end. What an empressive accomplishment by NDA winning, what I think was 7 straight Regional Championships. Probably something that will never be done again. Highlands, go make the 9th Region proud. As a Highlands fan, I am so happy for you girls.

Big Red Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 I said it pre-season, the winner of Highlands vs. NDA, and SK have a good chance to bring the state title to NKY. I haven't seen the draw, but I hope they are not on same side. Good luck to both.
STPB Posted October 19, 2018 Author Posted October 19, 2018 They are not on the same side. SK is upper half and Highlands in the lower. SK has a tough draw with the 7th Region but they still have a great chance of making it out. It soccer and you just never know.

EasyEdge Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 Highlands has a great shot to get to the final. I'd even say a "favorite" to get there on their side of the bracket. Highlands vs. 7th region champ is what I see playing out. NDA has some really strong younger classes and will continue to be tough in coming years. These two were clearly the top of the class in the 9th. Keep in mind, both these teams have girls that are not playing high school because they are on the DA, or they would even have a better chance of winning state.

Disclaimer: The following comments refer to small groups of people and not intended to be blanket commentary on either side. I was standing behind the NDA cheering section during the "prayer circle" ... the negative comments from the NDA group regarding their assumption that Highlands opted out was silly ... sore loser comments. Moments later, and equally as embarrassing IMO, were the comments from the Highland's supporters suggesting that NDA didn't extend an invite or proceeded without them. At that point in time, there was no way either group of supporters could have known what caused that situation. Preconceived hatred for the other program ruled their thoughts. I hope the God the kids were praying to can smile at the irony! We provide a lot for Him to laugh at.
STPB Posted October 22, 2018 Author Posted October 22, 2018 Well stated MyOpin. I think it was just a misunderstanding and the craziness of the game and post game that lead to both teams not being in the prayer circle.
