Mercer's band director commented that they had won the last State Band Championship as Scotties and the first State Band Championship as Titans. Awesome job! I hope the football team has a state championship to add in the coming weeks. Also don't forget Chrys Jones who was honored during halftime and presented with his ring from setting long jump records at State - what a talented :thumb: kid.

Now, back to the game from Friday night.....

Defense for Mercer was outstanding: Rashad Buster had 11 tackles, Freeman Edwards had 11 tackles and 1 interception, and Chris Lewis had 9 tackles and 1 fumble recovery for a touchdown!

Great defensive game!!!!

I don't think Mercer is feeling the pressure quite yet. While they are very aware of how talented newport is they also have played them once. I think, if... they make it to round 3 they will really start to feel the magnitude of the situation as they then begin to play unfamiliar teams. Mercer is tough offensively, they have incredible speed, it will ultimately come down to the pay of the defense. I disagree with earlier comments that nobody will come within 21 pts. I believe very close games are about to come knocking. Still should be fun!!!

You have to admit, there is a whole lot of chest puffing going on...

I realize that it is early, but I look forward to the chest puffing next year when Mercer may get to see the Birds or the Colonels in AAAAA, two teams that they should be on the level with this season.

Won't see them until the semifinals.

Which translated means...."glad you're having such a good season, but don't you dare think you could beat MY team...and don't even think about braggin on your team..."

Listen my man, it's a thread about Mercer. You don't like what you're reading then just back out.

The lesson to be learned is this. YOU will not tell any Mercer poster how to feel or what to post.

Lesson over.

Maybe you need some English lessons. Your translation is wrong.

Be proud of your team. Brag a little as well. The lesson to be learned is humility.

You are right. I cannot teach you that. You have to learn it for yourself.

Gosh...

I am almost cheering for Mercer at this point. This crap has gone on too long. I bet if someone combs my post, I probably gave "Merger Co" some crap myself, but seriously guys, lets just let it play out and enjoy the playoffs.

IMO, Joe Dirt has been a very good and reasonable fan of his/her program. I don't live and die with reading posts on this site, but I have tried to follow the 2a posts, and I think its time to just LET IT DIE!

This is the time we all love! The playoffs are here, the second round is here! Every team left in it gets there chance soon!

Can Mercer live up to the expectations? I don't know about anyone else, but I'm looking forward to see if they can! IMO Mercer Co brings another dimension to 2a football.

Its Russell v Fleming, Belfry v Prestonsburg, Caldwell v Trigg, Corbin v Wayne, Western v Larue, Mercer v Newport. Glasgow v OC, AND Leslie v Middlesboro.

I guess I have just come to the realization that this is an AWESOME year for 2a football. I hope other people will as well.

Great post! :thumb: I think this could be a very exciting post season. If we lose I know we will get blasted on here. But, I'm coming right on here and congratulating that team and their fans for their big win. I'm ready for friday.

I have read alot of Mercer Co posts, and honestly I don't read them as being ridiculous. I read them as a fanbase who is fired up.

Everyone who is behind has the chance to make history! Mercer fans, be humble, be happy, respect everyone, and enjoy this.

This is it guys! This is every 2a teams' chances to make history. I think this is a great year. I just can't read it any other way.
