With their offense it doesn't really matter who they have on the mound. Still a ton of money for a guy with a career ERA north of 4 and major past health issues.

He seemed to have found something with his change in technique this past season. He's got one of the highest spin rates and average velocity in the league. If he's healthy they paid #3 or #4 money for a #2.

He's shown nothing to indicate he's a #2 starter. He may end up there, but nothing he's done in his career to date suggests it.

He had Tommy John in 2017 right? 130ish innings including the playoffs this year. The Red Sox have money to burn so it doesn't even matter. 20 innings in the playoffs made him a TON of money. He wasn't $70M without that.

MLB.com went through the top 9 starters still available in Free Agency....They had the Reds as a potential landing spot for Keuchel, Wade Miley, Clay Buchholz, Anibal Sanchez, Gio Gonzalez, and Matt Harvey.

Personally, I would take Gonzalez and Harvey, hoping I can get them cheaper than Keuchel, and that the new pitching coach will work well with them. Gio's numbers when he went to Milwaukee were way better than his numbers with the Nationals. I would then use the money saved to sign Pollock.

That's probably the most likely type of scenario, but I don't see them cracking 70 wins if that's their entire offseason. Gio is a #3- #4 starter. Harvey a #5.

Nationals owner doesn't believe they'll be able to re-sign Bryce Harper.

In other news, it’s cold outside.

Mike Napoli is retiring.

Billy Hamilton is going to the Royals.

Tyson Ross is going to the Tigers.

Sounds like the 1st team to add a 3rd year to their offer for Happ will get his services. I wouldn't be against the Reds doing it.

His numbers are very very similar to Keuchel.

McCutchen to Philly for 3 & $50....

Eek, seems like too much.

His numbers are very very similar to Keuchel.

Yes, indeed.

I know it won't happen, because it's the Reds, but a signing of one of those two and a trade for Kluber (or a lesser extent Bauer) and they've had a whale of an offseason.

Agreed, that would be the move IMO. Anything that would keep Senzel and add two good SP would be a huge win IMO.
