Why is CovCath and Highlands being stacked good for NKY football?

 

Because every area want's their traditional powerhouses to be good. As a Highlands fan, I want Cov Cath to be GREAT. Although I want Highlands to be better. When Highlands rolls off 15 wins in a row against CCH, it's NOT exciting. The past 2 years, watching CCH dominate, hasn't been exciting. The fact that the Birds haven't even been competitive in that game, makes it even worse. When both teams are strong and you know it's going to be a battle, it's AWESOME! The same holds true for the St. X and Trinity rivalry, or the Mayfield and Paducah Tilghman rivalry. All areas want to see their "giants" strong and contenders. When one is dominating and the other is struggling, it's just not as good. Other NKY schools have really good years every now and then, but historically, people in KY expect Highlands, Cov Cath, and Beechwood to ALWAYS be at the top of their game. See I even gave the Beechwood guy some love in there.

 

It's just like watching March Madness. I love the underdog story for round 1 and 2. But at the end of the day, I want UK, Kansas, NC, and those bums from Duke to be the top dogs in it.

Not sure home much the fans of Campbell County, Ryle, or Simon Kenton want CovCath and Highlands to be the best programs in the area. Seems to me they would want the opposite.

My original point was simply a question. My original post was:

Highlands has been dominating games in both the Freshman and JV level. Both teams are not just undefeated but crushing opponents. Who else has a bright future? I know Cov Cath and Highlands are both stacked right now with underclass talent (which is great for NKY football). Will these 2 teams be in a class of their own, or are there other schools who have talent coming up the next few years?

 

I did NOT say they were crushing EVERY opponent they played. Nor did I mention anything about Beechwood until that game specifically was asked about and I provided the scores for both games. Again, My post was about the general state of the TOTAL underclass programs. Highlands seems to be very strong in each class. As does Cov Cath. I know that for a fact. My question still remains the same, are HHS and Cov Cath the only schools with big talent in each class or are their others? If you are saying Beechwood has it, then AWESOME! I hope there are more than 2 schools with talent in each class. Based on the games I have personally watched, Highlands was running over most teams at the JV and Frosh levels. I know there are games I haven't watched, which was the point of my question. I'm sure many people have seen many games I have not. My gosh, I don't have to be "right". I was simply asking a question.

I stated how Highlands freshman did anything but crush Cooper's freshman team, and in fact was very fortunate to get a win that day since I did get to go watch that game. So that answered your question about talent. I even expanded on that and said five teams Highlands, CovCath, Ryle, Cooper, and Conner all have good talent in the freshman class this year from what I seen and heard. Which your response to that was well Highlands JV beat Cooper 62 to 0. That doesn't seem like someone who is truly listening for other opinions. Seems like your just looking for opinions that say yes Highlands is back.

I for one am glad the frosh teams you listed are all showing signs of real talent. Blow out games are no fun to watch. I’ll take a competitive Friday night every time.

Completely agree! It is fun when a lot of schools have talent, and get to see those battles play out on Friday nights. Which is why I the new 5A district of Covcath, Cooper, Highlands, Conner, and Boone will be a very fun and competitive district to watch starting next season.
