I don’t believe this is a must win, but I do agree they need to win this game to show they are better than last years squad. But this is a substantial road trip and how they perform could tell us how they could perform playoff time.

 

I do not think it is a must win. Our District games are the must win games. Winning those 2 will put us at home for 3 playoff games before traveling to Pikeville for the Semifinals. Providing all of that plays out.

 

As far as impact on the playoffs and home field, no it isn't a must win.

 

As far as confidence and implications of chances on winning a state title, I think it is a must win.

Is this a must win for Raceland?

 

I think so. If the Rams believe they are better than last year and ready to win a title, they need to win this one.

 

If Raceland wants to be thought of as an honest threat to Beechwood, then yes, they need to win this game. I would even argue that they need to win it in impressive fashion.

 

But let's say Raceland does just that...

They go on the road, three hours from home, and beat the Jumpers by 3 scores. Will that sway the public perception of 1A being Beechwood’s domain? I'm not sure that it will. Until someone from this class actually hands Beechwood a loss, everyone else is a distant 2nd in the eyes of most.

I've seen mention of Somerset's injury bug a few times. My team caught it last year. It's rough watching the kids drop like flies week after week. Somerset's recent results speak well of the quality depth in the program right now, though. Should be a great game this Friday.

Their district and region appear wide open for the taking. Both Somerset and Raceland could be headed for deep playoff runs. This game could be huge for both teams as far as continuing their upward trajectory.

Well, we DO need a big win this week. But doesn’t everyone need a big win, every week? I think it’ll be a really good game. If we are fortunate enough, hopefully we drive home 3 hours victorious.
