I am impressed by Butler!

 

Congrats Male.

This game was interesting for a few minutes in the third, but that’s becuase Male didn’t play well at all in the first half. Two red zone turnovers cost them what would have probably been 14 points.

Holding Butler to 12 pts with two starters out on defense is impressive.

Both were very long scoring plays. The long run, the Butler RB made a heck of a play, but Male missed several tackles. The pass play looked like busted coverage to me, but I’d have to see it again to be sure. At halftime, i thought Male would get the shutout.

Understand Male had 485 yards, but lost the ball 3 times in Redzone. Butler had nearly as much yardage, 260 yards, as the Dawgs had given up (275) total in 1st 4 games combined. Was Butler that good, or was it the shortage of key players for Male? Turnovers can keep a gameinteresting.

Bottom line Male was short a starting DB (long td pass) and a linebacker (long td run with broken tackles). But the Dawgs overcame 3 red zone turnovers to beat the next best JCPS has to offer by 3 scores. Had a Male capitalized on the first half fumbles this game might have been a running clock.

 

Butler has great athleticism. Line play was the difference. The Bears broke down and couldn’t keep up.
