September 16, 20188 yr Author I don't think Penn St is better than TCU...OSU will be fine at Happy Valley if they play close to this. Penn State is a lot better than TCU IMO. Plus there have been years where Penn State was mediocre and OSU barely escaped. Even when OSU won the title, they went to 2 OT in Happy Valley. It’s the toughest conditions to play in in college football. Nothing ever comes easy I’m Happy Valley and even more so when you have a team as talented as Penn State is.

If you give Gary Patterson an entire offseason to prepare for Penn State they may have lost to TCU. We had a conversation about X’s and O’s coaches the other day, I’m not sure if there is a better one than Gary Patterson. The 93 yard run was horribly misplayed by OSU, but the reason it was misplayed was because Patterson had the defense out of position pre snap. Penn State is still a better team than TCU though IMO.

Like Ohio State, Penn State is full of 4 and 5 star players. They have struggled with losing their offensive coordinator, but are getting in gear now.

Alabama is on their 4th Offensive Coordinator in less than 2 years I think...he was the WR Coach. Their Defensive Coordinator has only been a coach for about 5 years...was a line coach for two years before coming to Alabama. I'm not saying coordinators aren't important, just saying they should not be used as an excuse at a top level program either.

September 16, 20187 yr I shouldn't have said top tier because I really don't know about Clemson, Bama, or UGA. OSU is the only one in that group that's faced a legitimate team. I don't really think PSU is really that good this year. Too many holes as a team. OSU shouldn't have many problems this year in the BIG 10

It’s not an excuse but most people don’t realize Penn State had an ace up their sleeve, who’s now the coach at Miss St. The game shouldn’t have been close but I can see why they struggled out of the gate with their ace gone. Personally, I think they have adjusted now. We’ll see in two weeks.
September 17, 20187 yr Ohio State looked good. TCU was better than I anticipated. Penn State, like everyone in the B1G outside of OSU, is trash people. Ohio State will destroy them. I'll be interested in seeing if anyone in the B1G can stay within 3 scores of the Buckeyes. I don't see it at the moment.
