September 9, 20188 yr So, I mentioned a week ago that I wasn't going to judge Willie Taggart based on this year. Tonight is challenging my faith in that statement. With just over 10 minutes left in the game, Samford is up 23-21. Florida State has not led all night against the ninth ranked team. That's ninth ranked in the FCS. Last week was embarrassing. I'm not certain that I have a word for what this is, should they lose. A sign of the times at FSU? Aguayo has missed twice tonight. That's a guy that missed three times all last year - he's already missed that many in two games. It's unreal.

I love what Jimbo accomplished and there was a time I loved him. But this is a symptom of what he allowed to happen. Last year was pretty much this painful as well. He built FSU back up, won a title, and then rested on his laurels. It was and remains frustrating. What frustrates me is that Taggart has so many of the qualities that I want in a head coach. I see a passion and a fire in him that Jimbo lost. He connects with recruits, and look no further than him donating a million dollars of his own money to building the new FSU football complex. He gets so, so much. But his in-game coaching sure isn't translating yet. Seven points off four Samford turnovers? SEVEN?!?!?!
September 9, 20188 yr Author Taggart summed up thus far: On first and goal from the five, and after a couple of incredibly strong Akers runs, what do they run? Jet to a receiver, who promptly loses six yards. Next play Akers gets them back. Almost like maybe you should've given it to him first.....
September 9, 20188 yr Author Francois to McKitty and FSU is up for the first time tonight. 4:03 left. They'll go for two. Francois hit Murray for the two point conversion, and it's 29-26. SO they know they're not going to lose on this one unless they let Samford into the end zone.
