Mercer County finished last season 7-6 while opening the season 2-0 prior to falling to Anderson County 19-21. This season the Titans are starting off the season 0-2 prior to facing one of the best group of Bearcats in recent memory. Anderson County has looked really solid starting their 2018 campaign 2-0 with wins against 6A foes, George Rogers Clark and Meade County. Who wins this one and why?

On paper this one doesn't look good for Mercer. Anderson has scored 75 points in 2 games while only giving up 14. Mercer has scored 33 points in the 1st two games while giving up 54. Anderson doesn't report stats to KHSAA so how have they scored the 75 points? I know they have a good transfer RB but are they passing much? From a quick glance at KHSAA for Mercer looks like through the 1st two games they have ran the ball 75-80% of the time and by the 33 points scored look to be struggling on offense.

Anderson will win big.

Jagger Gillis was 10-14 for 128 yards and 2 TDs vs. Meade last week

Jagger is a good player he ran the ball good against Mercer last year. Gunnar seemed to be under pressure the whole game last year

Yes, Jagger continues to grow as a passer. He was overlooked in his ability to read the option last season because he was not having as much success through the air. As a sophomore he has a lot of potential going forward.

If and only if Mercer can spread Anderson out on defense and keep them from crowding the box, they are very capable of getting their offensive game going. We have very capable skill players and most of them are only 2 games into their experience at this level. I think Anderson may be just too good regardless of what Mercer can do on offense, but it is at AJ field which will bode well for our chances. Go Titans!

No clue who wins but Anderson is a lot of fun to watch on offense. Their option style out of the gun is different.

Agree with all of that. I think Mercer will stick with the game plan of running 80% of the time. The only time they have really opened up the offense was the last drive against John Hardin. They went 60 yards in about 55 seconds. Anderson has a good team I don't know that Mercer can hang with them up front on the offensive or defensive line. Mercer matches up ok everywhere else.
