According to what the Meade County coaches reported to KHSAA/Riherds they have 53 on the team this year. Last year (2017) they reported 54 pl.jayers and in 2016 they reported 53 players. This is looking at what Riherds shows on the roster. Names are listed of each player to get this count.

 

I went back and looked at the 53 listed players for this and not one freshman is listed in the 53.

Cogswell LB 7 tackles, blocked punt, scored 2 2point conversion runs and a 32 yard kickoff return.

Meade capitalized and came back and almost stole the win. It was a much more competitive game than last year. Meade looks to have a better season and SK will learn from the first game experience. NKY 6A should be a fun race this year for bragging rights of top dog.

Been deep in the playoffs year end and year out. I disagree with strength of schedule look up the strength of schedule . No respect for Meade plus they only dress on average 30 to 40 kids if that. They are always getting no love I remember in 08 Meade was picked to lose against Male and after it was over all crickets. That's how it always Is, some schools dont have the luxury of dressing 80 kids. These boys play both sides of the ball SK probably has starters on each side.. That speaks volumes on the conditioning and coaching on Meade some of you are crazy saying Meade has no business playing SK.... 2001 St.X said the same thing.... "Little" Meade County upset them.

 

Got a bit confused given my sources said Meade had a 5-6 season in '08. Looks like those playoff runs were from the '06 and '07 seasons according to the KHSAA. I checked some more into past seasons and was surprised to see that Meade did used to have some good season records in the early 00's. None of which changes my point that in the past ten years Meade has only had two successful seasons. I feel similarly about Manual's team right now. Past accomplishments do not mean someone has a strong team currently.

 

People picking against Meade in '07 may have been incorrect but I also remember when people correctly picked Trinity over Meade in '14 despite the protests of several Meade county fans. Just because people doubt a team doesn't mean it's unjustified.

 

Also, Meade is pretty close in male enrollment to SK (806 vs 871) so it not so much a 'luxury' to have enough players to platoon, but evidence of a good program. Meade has the enrollment to have similar numbers. If they don't that is on them, not anyone else.

Eventhough I was looking for drama and entertainment in my earlier post, your right, it is refreshing to see positive SK responses. But I still like to be entertained.

 

You bring up another good point about SK squeaking out the win. It made me think of last year when SK squeaked our wins against Highlands and Beachwood. They have a knack for squeaking them out. Apparently The football gods smile upon Independance.

 

Good for he players but bad for he coaches and parents I’m sure. But I’ve always thought that close W’s and L’s builds character.

 

Let’s all come to a consensus on SK posts, how about 50/50. 50% drama and 50% positive. That way I can still be entertained. Lol
