Due to medical reasons, tonight's practice was the last one in Coach Duncan's career.

 

After coming back strong from a heart attack less than 2 years ago, Coach Duncan had a setback this week as he suffered a stroke. He was obviously advised by his doctor to immediately get away from stress.

 

This dealt a severe blow as Coach Duncan is one of the greatest people I have ever met in my life. Very good football coach, absolutely exceptional person.

 

He always believed that he was placed at Tilghman for a purpose, and although the time was short and it didn't have as much to do with football, I believe he filled that purpose through all the lives touched on this team.

Obviously, the biggest takeaway here is Coach Duncan's health, but this has to be a serious blow to the football team, being so close to the start of the season. Does the school look for a quick fix and just promote someone from within as an interim coach for the year?

Yes, unless something takes a different turn, there are a couple in house already that can take the reins and carry on what we started.

 

One of the things I mentioned on the team preview thread was about this coaching staff. I don't think you'll see much change at all. The plan is to go with what we have in place. These assistant coaches have a very good grasp on what we were doing.

 

If anything, after seeing what I saw tonight, I actually think this put a chip on this team's shoulder and may prove to be a big motivating factor by the time it's all said and done.

Certainly hate to hear this. I am praying for Coach Duncan's health and recovery.

Zipp is doing well. He's actually on the coaching staff at Westerville South High School in Ohio.

 

He was a heck of a ball player at Kentucky.
