Beechwood 30 Holy Cross 14

Featured Replies

Any comments about officiating last night? Seems like there were alot of bad/missed calls on both sides. Heard some chatter that the crew wasn't who we were supposed to have last night. Anybody?

Not a rumor, the ref crew was changed from the original one scheduled due to that crew being scratched. Many bad calls more towards the home team than the visitors. Many missed calls both ways, more towards BHS being held on every play by the HC TE. The white hat was looking right at the boy several times and did not throw the flag. Several 15 yarders against BHS, one against HC. They do alot of talking, obviously we(BHS) talked alot also and got caught. I am sure they(the whole team) paid the price this morning after films as they were sure to be on the track to remind them of the 15 yarders.

Oh well, the game is over and let's all get ready for playoffs. From past experience, we think our refs are bad but the down state refs we get are worse, most of the time.

After allowing Beechwood to dominate the first 1 1/2 quarters, HC seemed to settle down and tell themselves to just play football and not to worry about the score and magnitude of the game etc. They played much better with that mental outlook and actually outscored Beechwood 14-3 the rest of the way. I'm sure it would've been different with Bankamper in there, but my point is they quit thinking and just started playing football.

I really don't think HC can defeat NCC and Beechwood back to back, but I do think their program took another baby step ahead last night learning how to mentally prepare and play in a big game.

I think Beechwood is still on a level by themselves in Class A!

Good luck to all the remaining Class A teams!

Have we had some BGPers suspended? I thought there would be a few others posting about this game.

Good Point!

Great win for BHS. They came out of the gate wanting it more than HC. HC had a few bad breaks.......but that's fball. The second half was a good half of fball. HC never gave up.

Get well Tommy!

For those who think the district title was tonight.......Not......It is determined the 3rd round of the playoffs.

Tonight wasn't a total lose for me personally. My other nephew plays for CCH.

Here's to you 3ptshooter: Beechwood wins again!

Actually I think it is deteremined after the 2nd round of the playoffs...:D

Cant speak for HC after this game because I didnt go and I am impressed with their season and effort in the 2nd half. But you cant tell me they will beat the Breds 2wice in one season. A buddy made an interesting comment last night when he saw this score flash on ICN6....watch out for NCC in the playoffs. They will end up knocking off Beechwood in the end and with Bankemper hurt... that is a huge blow to their rushing attack.

I dont know why you quoted me on this, because I said I dont think HC will beat NCC again. I been saying that for awhile now, and after seeing HC for the first time last night I am even more convinced that NCC will win the rematch next week in the playoffs...:thumb:

Yeah I must say I dont think the officiating was good at all last night. For most of the game, all the calls were going against Beechwood. One of the calls the refs made almost could have single handily got HC even closer. After a completed pass for Beechwood the guy dove with the ball out to get more yards, and when he hit the ground the ball came out and the called it a fumble and HC recovered. And this was when HC had just scored to make it 13 point lead. So that call right there gave HC a great chance but they couldn't do anything with it. I dont think you can find a single HC fan that would say that was a fumble, because it wasn't even close to being a fumble..There was alot of calls that went against Beechwood for most of of the first 3 quarters. Then once the game went into the 4th quarter it seemed like most of the calls kept going against HC...The officiating for this game was just horrible for both sides...

A lot of people can talk the talk but they can't walk the walk. I don't think anything said was grounds for suspension, just afraid to get on here after having a slight case of diahrea on the internet.:ylsuper:

I guarantee I would have got on here even if BHS lost and gave praise to HC. Their program has come a long way and everyone involved should be very proud, they just aren't at that top level yet. We all know it don't happen over night. Now that their kids have got the taste of winning it should carry on to the following yrs. I here they have a great freshman team to look forward to for the future. I have found out over the many yrs involved that winning the so-called freshman championship don't mean much. BHS has been beat alot of yrs in the freshman level but somehow come back in the next few yrs to win the district. So, HC, don't be satified w/this freshman yr keep working hard because it only gets harder.

I will agree w/this. BHS had alot of big penalties. That fumble on the pass could have very easily changed the outcome of the game if HC could have capitalized w/a TD. I do think we got one call in the fourth which was a unsportsmanship that occured on our sideline, could have been let go but there weren't any 15 yarders let go against BHS, they nailed us every time they could.

Why was the original officiating crew scratched?

If I heard right, the original crew was scratched earlier in the yr by BHS. I think they get to scratch X numbers of crews and somehow they were scheduled to do the game.

That is true, it seemed like they made sure they got you all on them all night long....I still can not figure out what the ref on the HC sideline saw on that so called fumble. To me, and probably everyone there it wasn't even close to being a fumble. That call really could have changed the whole game, and Im glad it didn't because no game should be changed on such a bad call like that...

I would watch making that prediction yet from what I have seen from NCC they have to be able to pass the ball and they have not proved they can against stiff competition.. :D

Well, the original crew couldnt be as bad as last night's group. I agree, that fumble call was horrible and could easily have changed the outcome of the game.

You are correct.
