Jack Edelin to Ballard

So did his dad get a new assistant coaching job this year?

I'm about as old school as they come, but I am not as bothered by this as many of you. In Louisville, you have some choices about where you go to high school. This young man, who I do not know, used social media to let people know where he is going to high school. I believe lots of other incoming freshmen, both athletes and non-athletes, have used social media to let people know where they are going to high school. Just doesn't seem to be that big of a deal to me. But what do I know (just ask my son).

You're probably right. I don't have a problem with him choosing, I'm just not a big fan of the instagram post-style of announcement. And as someone who lives in a single school county, the ways of Jefferson County are completely foreign to me and many others on the board.

As both a parent and a teacher I can't imagine encouraging my child to post anything like this on social media. I'm floored by the amount of people who are likely totally okay with it.

Hats off to Ballard for letting him in the school early, putting a jersey on him and getting him a photo op.

Beyond blessed to be able to announce that I've committed to commenting on this.

IMVHO it's just an attention grab just like all the announcements about commitments and offers which mean absolutely nothing. I saw a kid on Twitter announce that he was beyond blessed to be invited to pay hundreds of dollars to attend some camp.
